Beautiful conditions Tuesday, but scratch fishin:

    32.16.322
    117.31.630

9 a.m. paddy about 1.5km off the 371. 71.5 water. Paddy. 1 jello. Two more followers would not bite.

    32.20.746
    117.40.596

11:15 a.m. paddy about 1.6km off the 230. Two dodos. 71.5 degree water.

Lots of bait on other paddys, but any fish on 'em weren't buying what we were selling, including one paddy with at least 10 dodos and a gaggle of jellos. Couldn't get them to go. BIG boils of tuna around the 371. 38 footer isn't great for chasing boilers, but got one chance and basically blew it.

Trolling was a waste of time.

Kicked of the 230 like the others by the Navy.

Still great to get out. Beautiful weather - hardly any swell, winds under 10 knots, blue, blue water...

    Will try again Friday.

The Navy was conducting (live?) fire exercises in the 230area (you could later hear the boom boom boom in the distance). There were several go-fast Navy boats in the area and they pulled up on us (and the other boats we saw within a 5 miles) and told us to go 5 miles East or West to get out of the exercise area. They pulled about 20 feet away from us and we communicated over the radio (Channel 16). One boat looked like he just pulled up on a paddy when the Navy boat approached them and he had to leave the paddy.

I realize they were in Mex waters, but I respect the folks serving our county, basically assume they have the authority to conduct exercises, and it was no big deal to us to move, so I didn't query them about the issue of US authority in Mex waters (beside, the boat had what looked like 4 huge-ass machine guns)...

The other odd thing was Navy "Coalition Forces" had - on Channel 68 - what seemed to be a role-playing interview of a foreign tanker. It went on for at least a half hour.
