Launched oside harbor @430 in search of the 10-12mi foamers that happened this past week. Got 1/2 scoop of mixed fair bait from the always friendly James of oside bait Co., alot of small deans that were scaled and rolled over the coarse of the day and healthy macs! Headed for the cbad knuckle in 73.9° flat calm. Hit 6mi and spotted puddlers but was to late and ran them over..stopped and they came under the boat at 30-50' but were not interested. Threw sardine flat fall160g, glow flat fall 160g and a healthy mac for no love. Spent the rest of the day inside 12mi from solana beach to San onofre. Alot of bird activity in the grey light, but all headed west and moved by 10a.m. alot of boat traffic.. mostly ass hats running around at 20kn. Wind picked up a little around 12. Not much action on 72 except for trash talk as always. Some guys were seeing 20-30# yft jumpers at 10mi off the domes for no love, just swam on by. Some action reported on the ridge and the 209 but seemed slow as well. Headed out tomorrow. I hope this helps someone going out tomorrow as well. Water was up to 74.1 8 out this afternoon.

    Tight lines!!!

Great report. I did the same route today pretty much.

Huge parking lot east of the stacks. I saw a lot of trolling and flylines but no bends. Reports of 20-30# tunas around the boats south of the stacks but no bites. I didn't see any personally. Water temp there was in 73s and water was a nice blue.

72 makes me want to gaff people in the ass sometimes lol.

Shot out to the 279 from Dana with macks and mixed dines/tiny macks from the barge. Found a paddy about 10 miles out that held 10-15# YFT that ate our chum but not our hooked baits. Went southwest to the 209 for nada then inside towards Oceanside for nada...very slow with lots of boat traffic

I went out with Mad Mike and the blind squires on Sat.
We were at Dana at 4:30, and picked up a scope of deans.
They baited us up good, but some of the bait was not looking so good!
Perfect size deans, we spent at least 45 min not making macks! We tried chumming (bread crumbs and cat food)
and using squid on the rigs! Not a good sign, We ran to the 209. Short of the 209, we found some pony's.
Mike thought that he metered someone under them, We stopped for a bit with no love. Lots of cruising and not much life. We only found a few patties. One had a few 5 lbs tails which also ignored us. The water was about 73.4 deg. and there were about 5 boats out there. We ran toward the 181, more dead water. Nothing was working for us. We headed inshore toward the domes. We found a spot with a few boats and few birds as well. It looked a bit more fishy than the other water that we had seen. We would move toward the birds when they gathered, but they would break up before we were within 100yrds. Then we spotted some more pony's. We were trying to troll in front of them, and they were cashing a bait ball. We spent time boxing them. That's when it happened zinnng. Chris, they guy that does not fish salt water was picked up. I'm first on the stick, its pined in the holder. I get it out, push the drag and had it off to Chris. I tell Mike we are going to have to chase this fish, its spooling us! We get the lines clear, and turn the boat. Chris was in for quite the fight, he spent a lot of time polishing the drags! He is on a single speed Avet MLX. The good news is it was full of 65 lb braid. The drag is maxed out and the fish does not care. Ray took three turns on the rod because Chris was spent. This dance went on for close to an hour. I the end, the YFT weighed in at 58Lbs after gutting and bleeding. Is my PB on the gaff. its also the only fish we caught including fing macks! We ran with some pony's for 5 miles heading into Dana with no love.

Still smiling and its not even my fish!
    See ya on the water.

I'm glad you guys were able to put together a productive day for how slow it was. 58# yft is a nice fish. My pb is a 70# yft. I also have an avet mxl single spooled with 50 braid to 65 fluoro, super strong reel and does the job!! Tomorrow is another day! If you are out tomorrow reach me on 72 (reeltight)

Hope to see you out there!!
    Tight Lines!!

Today was insane in the early morning 6-12 out and north of the 209!! Full on Panama style foamers!! Got out late at 11am and rolled up on marks and scales everywhere. Clean blue 74.1.. just missed the bluefin buffet.. Good luck out there.

    Tight lines
