A guy fights a large fish with the Capt in the background being an ass, I could see being tired and excited and disappointed to see it's a protected species. However, the crew broke the law by not releasing it while it was still in the water. They know the rules and know to NEVER gaff a fish you intend to release.

The Oracles and The Omniscient are out in force today. The piers must be full, and the sporties all booked up.

    OUCHHHHHH.............

Just like the guy fishing in SAN Diego Bay a few years ago that was blasting the DFG for citing him for a short halibut he released after he netted it and boated the fish. Once you boat the fish it has been "Taken". The law is not up to anyone's interpretation. Every word in the law books has a definition. "Taken" in this case means the fish was landed. When you takea short lobster from a conical net and you place it in the boat before measuring it, you are breaking the law. Same shit!!! Oh well, learn from this and everyone move on!!

It is what it is. "Everyone involved" fucked up by posted illegal activity. Just delete the post and learn from it.

Why is this an amazing catch? BSB are a complete waste of time.

Anyone with any experience knows the slow tail beat of a Black and we don't waste time bring them to the surface, you pop them off on the bottom and get back to the target species.

Please tell me someone has a pic of the crew gaffing the fish to immediately release it after the photo OP

There's no 'creativity' going on here, except for your excuses and backpedaling.
You can't [email protected]#$ with nor argue with DFG definitions.

The initial run of a black might be construed as a yellow, but not long after the tug o war is pretty telling.

I heard that the Gail Force is running local trips. Maybe you can get on some bones, calicos and a BSB.

The odds are that quite likely that fish will perish within a weeks time due to the improper handling it received.
