Looking at either a PTB76HFS or PCHP-S-761XH for a 60# spinning rod. (Just spent $1300 on UC rods, so I want to stay around $200 for this application). Unfortunately, in Oregon our stores don't carry the gear common in SoCal, so I cannot go pull on them like many people will be tempted to suggest .

Of these two, or another in the same price range, which would handle larger grade fish better? Thanks in advance.

I think the 761H works fine for 60#. I have both the H and XH. The lighter one will give you a bit more casting distance for the same weight lure.

I don't know about either of those but I have an Okuma Hawaiian Custom that would fit your bill. I use it for throwing poppers at tuna.

Thanks for the input. What do you feel like the max size fish range an H and XH would handle?
