Took the dogs out to Izors today, Monday, June 7th to cloudy and windy (8 mph) morning conditions. Water clarity good, although tough to tell with the low light conditions. Water Temps 64 to 65. Saw no bait, no dolphin, no birds... no fish! Was getting a little cocky at Izors, today she shut me out! Fished for 3 hours moving all over, put no fish in the boat. Even my fish dog was disappointed and bored.
Moved to the 150, there's a reason that's where everyone is. Metered around found several areas holding fish, birds all around, plenty of dolphin, water around 65, four sporties and about the same number of private boaters working the area. The metal jig with squid is the hot ticket. Typically only use artificial, same today. The squid I used came out of the sand bass caught, they were stuffed with it. Put about 25 mixed bag of rock fish and sand bass. No calicos today. Hard work today as many fish had the extended air bladder, so I improvised a deep release tool. It worked! My first rock fish was kept as I wasn't ready to release just yet, tacos tonight! All others released. The deeper water, pretty stiff wind, deep release tool, and dolphin dogs kept me busy. The dogs couldn't understand the deep release aspect, but they were very interested. Anyway, nice to be on the water, and catch fish! Tight lines.

Yes! She literally jumped off the gunnel and made a bee line towards the dolphin as we drifted away. She came back when I called her. Strong swimmer!

I'll bet you get sore from hauling her back in!
Where did you get your harnesses? Anything special?

We saw the fleet out there yesterday as we were scratching away in some sloppy seas.

Thanks for the report. Nice red! How do your dogs react when a seal comes around?

They both get really crazy. I make it a point to keep them in the boat with sea lions around
