Offshore 6/6/23 US bluefin

First tuna trip for us this season on our Everglades. Decided to go search around the mackerel bank/ 289 / sci ridge area. Started to see some bird life and set up the CaliMade Lures spreader bars. One really far back down the middle then the directionals about 75 yards behind the boat. Got lucky saw some really subtle breezers right away. Within 15 min we were bit on the starboard side bar. Green & purple “Joker” color. Half hour fight and we put a 150# on the boat. Saw the breezers while fighting the fish and for about 20 min after landing it then they went MIA. No more bites. Pretty dead after that. Got pretty lucky being in the right place at the right time but stoked to land the one nice fish. Never saw any big volume. Also fished one nice paddy and pulled 4 yellows off it. About ten pounders.

Nine 9” squids then one 14” stinger squid

How fast were you trolling the spreader bar?

Got bit going 6 kn. I play around with the speed a lot for different situations. The CaliMade bars troll well anywhere from 5-9 kn
