Launched at 4:30am out of SD Bay with my buddy Tyler on his 20' Skipjack, and picked up some deans on our way out to the Coronado Islands.

Wind was up & blowing early, but nothing like how it was during the Yellowtail Shootout last weekend. Water temp was anywhere from 66.5-67.3 degrees and clean around North Island & in the Middle Grounds. We motored to our first zone and had lines in at 6:15am. Found some scattered meter marks and the first bait that hit the water got swallowed. Dumped over 100 yards of top shot on it's 3rd run with a decent amount of drag on the fish and headed right for the rocks -- which had me thinking I actually might've been seal'd at one point. Landed what turned out to be just an angry, really pissed off 20lb yellow. First YT of the day on the deck by 6:30am.

Slow trolled down the line headed south. Under a bird school, we found an area that was pretty much wide open action on 8-12lb YT and mixed Bonita. Bunch of boats slid in with bendos all around us. Slow troll sardine, fly-line, and surface iron were all getting bit well. A couple of the 8-10lb models we caught were puking up red crab. Limits for 2 within a couple hours with several others released. Headed back to the barn around 1pm.
    Slay em fellas:beerbang:
