made plans with the old lady to go fishing. we left home 530 launched at 615 from davies.

forecast said 5-10 kts of wind. 5 was correct

made our way behind the breakwall and our angels gate. we hit a few rocks successfully caught about 25-30 mixed calico/ sandies. largest was 4 lb. we lost a few larger ones that liberated them selves. about 830 made our way to the party. the shoe was a mess. I didn’t see much happening and the mrs was getting green. the wind at this time was picking up so we bagged it. at the entrance of the harbor there was popcorn. home by 11 drinking beer. hopefully there were some garr caught.

I'm with you on the wind. Called it a day before anything got going. 15+ at the entrance to Huntington Harbor at 9:45.

Wind is out of the South. Does not take much to bump it up when the wind is from South. Looks like South to Southwest Wind for Sunday. Hoping it switches to the West. If not, I will not be fishing it.

Fished back side Cat on Friday on 65’ Sport Boat. Ok yellowtail. Boats under 26’ were getting bounced around a lot with mixed swells from 2 directions. In the interim, big south wind is now blowing. If I were going to Cat on Sunday I’d fish only the front side. Stay in the lee side and out of the wind and rough water. Maybe start near west end and work east. Or opposite. You’ll be glad you stayed on front side. Would not fish local coast. Report back after trip.

I went yesterday and did really well on the cuddas. We started off using bait and it was really slow. Then I started hucking the mint and White taddy and it was hook ups almost every cast. If they didn’t bite the jig I would at least see a few followers. I found it odd that they didn’t want the bait. I had a bait out for most of the day in case there were any yellows around, but it was unsuccessful. Good luck.

This is my Maiden voyage with my new Evinrude 135. I did some lake testing last week, and now that I'm ready we have shitty weather.

Popcorn, as in wind driven white caps, looks like popping popcorn.

Sheep would be the next level, and white out with breakers means you screwed up.

We fished Sunday got out there around 830 and it was crap. My son got a BG spinner for his b day so had to give it a shot. Trolled rapalas and caught 2 logs in 30 minutes until my son puked so headed back in. One was a pig probably 40"+ talked to some guys at the ramp and it was super slow
