So I’ve been a bit of a boat whore lately as it has taken weeks to get 100-hour service parts for my Yamaha. Thanks Steve, Shin, Bob et al. Today I ho’d with Rich on Taxfree. We started at Izor’s and got into a steady bite on larger models. Lal was nearby on the Ducky and was doing well also as was someone else nearby. We hit some spots around Izor’s, then gave the 150 a sniff. Nothing there yet in 62 degree water.

We ended up at the shoe and found a flurry here and there. Some bass were biting on the drop in the middle of the water column. Our favorite! Rich was getting doubles on the JP jig as was I on the double trouble swimbait rig.

Wind was merciful all day and I wasn’t paying attention to the drift direction so I can’t speak to current. I can say we saw no signs of red tide in our 35 miles traveled today. Water temps were 61-63.

Most fish were caught on the drop, but we hooked several on the grind, anywhere from the bottom to mid column. Most fish were caught on 4” Kman Special swimbaits, but we caught plenty on JP jigs. We didn’t keep a total. Best guess is 50 or so bass, 50/50 calico/sandy. Calicos to 4.5#, sandies to 6#. Sounds like the bass were on the chew big time today. I came home to a nice PM from someone who was using my swimbaits today and he quit counting at 30 bass.

We didn’t sink the boat or get arrested or towed. It was a great day on the water with a bud I’ve known for maybe 20 years. Thanks for the invite Rich. Let’s fish my sled next time.
