Left the dock Wednesday evening with 17 passengers headed South outside Ensenada
About 2:30 AM got on a good spot of biting tuna
Flatfall, knife jigs, and sinker rigs all worked
Fish ranged in size from 20 pounds to 200 pounds
The majority of the bluefin were caught at night Daytime interesting that few were caught on the troll with a purple Cedar plug
A few daytime tuna and were caught on the patties along with the yellow tail
The yellow tail ranged in size from firecrackers to the bigger models
The bigger ones would immediately head for the Patty's a most likely break off
Put the wood to them right away
Crew was great including new skipper Trevor
Special note:
I've been perfecting using an electric reel for the flatfall fishing
A few things I found was the need to change out the rods rockcod tip, shorten the power cable to about 3' and disconnect the power cord at the reel prior to traffic (need to over/under other anglers
Do not try to hook set with the electric function
Manual only once the fish hits the jig
disconnect the power cord at the reel and dump the power pack a soon as possible
