After 7 months of not fishing but working on the boat replacing fuel tank it felt good to get out on the water. Headed out of CIH around 630. My girlfriend, daughter, dog and I, plan was to stay in shallow around anacapa and fish calico and just have a good time being out.

It was surprisingly a little bumpy in the morning but nothing the Skippy is uncomfortable in. Got to the arch in about 40 minutes. Ripping downhill current at 3 knots. Nothing comfortable for the girls to fish in and I figure why not look for some better conditions.
I’ve never really focused on rock fishing so I don’t have any “spots” but I figured it may be a good day to go looking with no charter boats out there that might think I’m following the herd.
About a half mile behind anacapa I find some stones and give it a shot. Man it felt good to be successful at finding some fish. My daughter couldn’t of been happier. We put some taco meat in the cooler and made some incredible memories. The whole ride home she talked about how big the fish were she was catching and she couldn’t wait for dinner.
This girl is amazing. She out fishes anyone and everyone on the boat every time.

I did all the work myself but Bay City Fab made the tank for me. I’m very pleased. She now has 130 gallons in her belly.
