Took a buddy out with me today to try and find some patty YT. The general plan being to head west as far as time would allow as we both had to be at work today at 1445.

Left the rack at 0500 and on the water at 0615. No wait at the bait barge again. (Two times in a row now!). Buddy thought we had nice deans but unfortunately half of them met an early demise as the bait pump hose came off about somewhere between the barge and 5 miles out. Ended up stopping to repair it twice and lost over half the bait in the process. Not sure if it was old stiff hose or the general lumpiness of the conditions which were a wee bit nautical for a 17' skiff. Either way we carried on with what was left.

We found our first patty on the inside edge of the 9 and found no takers. A good sized patch of kelp but nobody home. Water temp was 62.7 here. Continued on until about the fare side of the bank and decided that it was indeed too nautical to continue westward. Shit was just too lumpy to really spot patties from the deck of skiff. Continued south along the far side of the 9 until we got down around past North Coronado and turned it back around 1020. Water temp here was 63.0. Found two more patties on the way back that were both empty as well.

Not much to else to say. Picked up three balloons and stopped off PL for some bird activity on dolphins for yet again, nothing. Conditions seemed to be easing up as we went in. The sun definitely started to make an appearance as we came in. We definitely would have stayed out if we didn't have to answer the emergency phones for Uncle Sam's Yacht Club.

Still a good day!

    I know a couple guys...
You have quite the bait tank set up. System failed twice and you found a way to keep nearly half of the bait alive still... on a 17' skiff and in the snot too. A lot of guys lose half their bait on a sled that size just getting to the zone on a half way decent day. 😄

    Appreciate the timely report.
