Headed out of SI a little late as my boat partner Frank got called into work at 0100. Launched at 0730 and picked up a scoop of big lively Dines. Weather called for 9kts of wind early and 5ft at 10s. Thought we'd go to the Islands and go from there.

A little bump but cruised at 20kts headed for Pukey Pt. First time using a new used AP from my electronics buddy. Working out some bugs but it ran great all day.
IMG_20210510_103223912.jpg

We set up on some good marks for some Yo-yo action. No Yellows but did manage a nice Red before we heard chatter about Paddy's and fish out at the 226.

Stopped on a nice sized Paddy a couple miles off the Islands for Nada.
IMG_20210510_095823960.jpg

Got to the area and there were several Sporties and another half dozen privates spread out all on the hunt. Saw one jumping fish and boxed the immediate area pulling some deep divers.. nada. Spotted a Paddy with some birds on it. You know the kind that makes your day.. nada. Nothing on the Paddy but did get some marks after we drifted off of it. Tried Flylined, sinker-rig and Coltsniper but no takers.

IMG_20210510_121226058_HDR.jpg

Headed down the bank toward the 302 setting the AP on Zig-zag mode until we headed in toward SKR. No paddies or breaking fish along the way. We both took turns in the spotting tower with the Stabi's. No Yellows at SKR on some good marks. Finished up with a few more nice sized Reds off North Island then called it. Frank grabbed some much needed sleep on the ride in. When you have a heart attack in the middle of the night.. there's a good chance Frank will be your nurse in the Cardiac Cath Lab. AP took us to the channel like it was supposed to. Great day on the water.

Good to see you and Frank get the boat out and about again Lou. I think you're definitely going to love the AP. I loved it on the sailboat so much I put one on my little skiff a couple of months ago.

I hear you dude. I placed the order for my F70 in late November 2020. They finally got it in and hung late March. I feel fortunate to have only had to wait 4 months.

Thanks for the report. Same story for us today except we also worked further north. Saw some jumping bonies that wouldn't let us within casting range and that was it. Tons of dry paddy's. We'll get em next time!

Those bean bag chairs are the bomb! Found out about those ten years ago fishing out of Venice LA. Ran 40 knots out the rigs while snoozing all the way. Put one on my boat ever since.

    Looks like fun Lou.
    How did the boat run?
Hey Mike, old engines run good at speed. At idle the starboard engine is a pain in the ass.. especially around the dock. I'm just done tinkering.. run good.. then shitty.. fix then repeat. Both Frank and I put a lot of hours in at the hospital so we have the $$$, just don't have the time and knowledge to really get in and work on 18yo motors. Yamaha were quoting 6mos out on a counter rotation motor. Suzuki's are electronically programmed for counter-rotation. All the motors are the same and so you just put on a counter-rotation prop. I would think that is a game-changer. It was for us. But who knows it could still take 6mos. Suzuki said 2mos. We'll see. HPDI's got us there and back. Thx
