Went on my uncles boat, he hardly goes out due to work. Work 6-7 days week. Plus $5 a gallon, ugh.... Our days off has lined up, and his grandson off from school. Grandson " Papa, can we go fishing this weekend!"

Left the harbor 4am, went to the FAD, figure play with the akus/shibis around. Caught half a dozen, 6 boats came by. Enough for the dry box.
Figure do something else, to much traffic/noise and fish wasn't really biting, hiding below.
Left the fad, drop some lures. Seen some birds inside the FAD, soon as we came by them, they all sit down.
His grandson said, " hope we can catch something to eat. If not, i gotta call mama to buy us some kentucky fried chicken for dinner" Pressure is on.
As soon he said that, HANAPA, reel takes off. Seen a nice mahi jumping in the back. Mahi in the boat by 7am. 23# wahine.
Play with the birds again, no love.
We all happy already... Fish n chip, tempura with the tartaa sauce/ponzu.

We kept driving, seen another bird pile. Seen some huge mahis jumping, chasing the malo malo. Work the pile, no love. We decide to leave them alone, about 200yrds down from the pile. Two reel goes down, screaming... Hanapa.... Seen the line going down.
We was thinking, Yellowfin! Not even 10seconds, both of them came off.:Dynamite:
Work the area again, seen another boat did the same path with us. Same time with us, as we got the strike. He hooked up, i dunno what he got though. He was fighting the fish for awhile.

Decide to keep driving, 1hr later. Port side, goes off. Screaming, half spool went... Figure we got this one... And what do you know, came off :Dynamite:
We shook our heads. Uncle decide to change the lures, a little more artillery style, deep in the cabin, special occasion lures...
Uncle said " i wouldn't mind battling a marlin today, 100-200#, for the smoke house "
As soon he drop those lures, we getting a little tired already from waking up, driving, long work week, missing those nice strikes... Not even 15 min, port side.... Takes off, reel did a nice song...

Here is a video of our day! 4am, in by 1pm. Perfect time for happy hr. Enjoy

Thanks to my uncle and a lucky day!

    Thanks for comments!

To let you guys know, we only trolled 2 Poles. Yes, 2 80w Penns.:beerbang:
Thats it! Next time my uncle said, i only going troll one pole. And see what's the outcome. Not like other boats trolling 5-8 poles...
2 same lures, and 1 different lure, which we switch out to catch the big boy!

Good to get some fish after waiting so long for days off to match up. Only 2 rods? With gas at around $5/gal I wish I could run 12 lines sometimes....

My uncle went out again today.
He got some shibi/aku, 3 mahis.
He missed a marlin right by the boat but he had a lot of knockdowns.
Word for the day, a boat was fighting a 110 yellow for 3hrs on a small spinner.
