Launched early this morning with Michael and headed to the islands after picking up a killer scoop of bait. Got to pukey and started looking but water was green and conditions didn't look right so we headed south to try and find a kelp.

We went down south of the 425 and then back up through the 101 and didn't see one kelp or any signal. Water was 67 to 68 down this way and slightly off colored. We pointed it in to the rockpile to try my ling spot I haven't fished in a long time. It was as wide open of a ling bite I've had catching and releasing over 40 fish and keeping 3 of the nicer ones. Every bait down was an instant bite and plenty of doubles.

After getting our fill we hit the islands and found green water everywhere with calico and Cuda being the only thing we could find. Stopped on a stone on the way home to finish off the day. Wind came up pretty good around noon. Fun day bottom fishing with good company!! Michael took the jackpot today with a very nice ling.

That was a good choice. I just got off a 3 day and the water was green almost to Ensenada. The good news is that there is clean water from 70 to 85 miles and there are some great schools of yellowfin on the birds. We got a few schools to stay with the boat and did well. The bait is awesome! Really nice 6-7 inch sardines with macks mixed in. We brailed bait on the larger schools and some stuck with us.

Also hit some kelps for smaller yellows and dorado.

That water will move North and you guys will have some shots.

Cody, saw you in the sheltered area near the lighthouse avoiding the crowd. Thought about coming over to say hello, but since we hadn’t met before thought it might be weird. I was hoping to go paddy hopping , but it was lumpier and windier out of mission bay on the way out so we ended up running to the islands. Barracuda were a nuisance today. Appreciate your reports and your gameplanning you share by posting.

Looks like a good score! I wouldn’t complain about Calicos and ‘cuda after getting some nice lings!
