Decided to hop on the 3/4 out of the Freelance hoping that they would make the crossing to Catalina in hopes of yellows. I brought out only long rods 9-10' with the intent of fishing Catalina, but when the decision was to stay local and start at SE bank I knew I would be in for a long day.

Fishing started with pretty much all the whitefish/grouper that you wanted. After we got bored of fishing deep and limits for anyone that wanted rockfish, the Capt took us to the beach where the bass started to bite. Wasn't wide open by any means but fishing a half-dead sardine on a slider was what worked for me.

Then we got word from the Patriot who just landed 9 yellows and was headed in.... Capt decided to ditch the bass and try our luck at the yellows. Wasn't wide open but we ended up with 9 as well, with a lot of casualties due to rental rods getting spooled....

Honestly what an amazing day on the water. Turned from a routine rockfish trip to a chance at some yellows! Was blessed by the fishing gods to be given two fish... Stoked

    Tackle used:
    -30 & 40 lb spectra
    -15ft seaguar blue label 20lb
    -size 2 mustad
-Rods: skinny butt baby ulua 10' & calstar 900xl
    -Reels: Trinidad 10a and 12a

Get out there and fish! Tight lines

I'm a weekend warrior! You know how we do it!
Learn all week, put a plan together, fix the boat and put the knowledge to work on the weekend! I still have to work for a living. Fishing is just my obsession.

It’s going to be a cluster out there tomorrow. Every boat from all the landings will be out there. It also looks like it’s going to blow in the afternoon.

Its going to be reel fun by Sat, and event better on Sun. We are just spooling up for spring here! Just like when the Cuda are in town. Only these boyz might break something! Dogs will be fed! Hearts will be broken. Launch the fleet! This should solve the parking problem at Dana for a week or two.
    Se you on the water!
