I fished both days Saturday and Sunday for bass between 50-120' of water solo on the skiff around PLK and had steady to wide open on the calicos and sandies in 60 degree water. I was throwing plastics and flatfalls for the bass. I also spent some time chasing bird schools around as it looked like some of the right things were happening and saw quite a bit of life out there with a wide variety of bait sizes. I got picked up twice on Saturday with something very large on 30 lb but both times came unbuttoned so I decided to bring an elephant gun on Sunday and got rewarded for the effort IMG_6837.jpg IMG_6838.jpg IMG_6839.jpg IMG_6841.jpg IMG_6845.jpg . I thought for sure it was a seal or big black seabass but nope, just my favorite So Cal Fish!

It's always amazing how many fishermen think that the yellows go "away" during half of the year. The yearlings follow the warm currents, but the adults don't read calendars. Good job!

Yep PLK, with 60# and a 2 speed and I needed all of it to stop that train. He had nothing in his gut and was pretty skinny but I dont think 40# would have stopped him from getting into the weeds.I got him in within 15 minutes but I put the wood to him and he put it back on me. I actually thumbed 60# and went past strike on the lever drag when he was close to the kelp, but the best part was that the hook fell right out when I lifted him over the tube on my 12" rib. 4' fish on a 12' boat, hee hee.
