I fished the Dominator over the weekend with Frank, my buddy John, Brandon, Harry O. and a great group of other people. A old friend of mine happened to be on the boat as well, which made it even better. With the weatherman predicting storms, we were skeptical. But the weather report in Colonet said otherwise. We motored down at 10 knots and arrived on the ridge at approx. 6:30 am. Capt Tim was at the helm and immediately put us on to beautiful quality yellows. We pulled on these fish for 30-45 minutes. Everyone was hooked up, even the rental rod guys. Amberle, one of the girls on board hauled in Yellowtail like a beast. I think she put 3-4 bruisers on board. The bite then slowed down for a steady pick until about 11 am. We tried a few other spots. As the storm got closer the water turned green and the fish stopped biting. We looked hard for more yellows until about 4:30. Then Tim decided it was time to catch some rock cod. We went to work on the cod and all caught our share. I caught a good size lingcod I was very happy about as well as a mixed bag of bank perch, orange roughy, reds, starries and BIG whitefish. At dark we packed it up and the new cook Jeremiah made some excellent tri-tip with broccoli, rice and garlic bread. The Dominator's crew is top notch and Capt Tim is the man. No ego's on this boat, just knowledge and help. I've like this boat since Pete owned it and have always had success. Great weather, crew and fishing. We could not have asked for much more.

Below is a report Capt. Frank emailed me:

The good times continue on the Dominator as they arrived this morning from another fun trip fishing Punta Colnett. 70 fat Yellows for the 21 anglers onboard plus a good variety of quality rockfish. As expected, the weather turn out to be just fine as it was a beautiful day at sea... Great fishing, Calm seas, awesome people = good times!

We plan to keep the 1.5 Day early departure going every Friday night. Its been strictly yo yo game with couple caught on dropper loop. Drop down to the bottom for Lingcod, Reds and others. We'll be on the lookout for tuna so always be ready for the opportunity.

Getting it done before the curtain climber consumes all your free time, looks like you will be eating well for a few days Yusef!

Brings back some serious memories, my last trip on Dominator was a week before Dom was due...
Shannon reminded me over & over again that I will never get over it, if I missed it...
    Glad it all worked-out!

Good job getting some YT in March.
Did you all happen to see any tuna jumping out there?
    Thanks

Nice. From the pics it looks like the scrambled egg is still working well down there. It was a couple weeks ago too. Thanks for the report.

We saw two spots of large boils. Capt thought they were YT. Birds were so thick we couldn't tell. We caught a handful of large barracuda As well. A good sign of what is to come very soon.

We fished some deep water trying to get into the Reds. That's where we got the roughys.

That's what I was thinking. Maybe I am behind the time on fish name slang? In 35 years I have never heard that one, exempt in restaurants.
No yellowtail tuna, that I understand.[emoji38]
