3/1 is the Captain's Birthday, every year I (we) make our pilgrimage to the promised land (I joke) for her, in hopes of hitting it big. LV was fun, but glad to get back home. Saturday maintenance and fuel, Sunday was a funday.

Left early enough to get bait, disappointingly, couldn't find any. Ran out some and set the spread, at about 28 miles and seeing white boobies all heading to our left, decided to go see what had their interest. About 45 minutes later found the whites. As we got close to them saw a mahi swim into our spread, but never grabbed any lures. Maybe 10 minutes later I see one crash the center then the port rigger went. Eric had the pleasure of reeling them in, missed the first one, got the second. Set back up got another one.

Then we see some debris, not surprising that there was something holding these fish. Make a pass on the debris, I think just about every rod went, but the sharks were better at catching than we were. Count... Humans 2 Sharks 3. By the time we got the mess straightened out had to go back and find the debris, mind you it is almost mid afternoon and we are 30 miles. Get some more and call it good, too bad no bait, but they were fine with eating lures.

Ended up with 8 mahis and 4 shibis. Considering, all too often if debris is holding on the Leeward side (plenty times it doesn't) bait is the ticket, feel very fortunate to have got what we got.

Nice going pat, we had trouble finding bait as well, good thing for frozen bait.

    Thanks Tommy.
Just made up some pin rigs, now need to get some Ballyhoo.
Thanks Spens, don't know the break down, mahis were $2.90-$4.10, better than a sharp stick in the eye. Shibis sucked, which was expected.

    Cheers
