Thanks, Mike. Considering how close LTO is, it would be a great call to take your wife down there. Inexpensive, beautiful, sleepy town with plenty of activities - fishing, kayak, paddle board, hiking, and one of favorites, eating.

WOW! Steve, what a great report, pics and of course fish! Inspiring to say the least. I have never been to Loreto but it is now on my bucket list thanks to your story. Makes me thirsty for a grande Cadillac margie right now! Congrats!

    To process the catch?

3 hours to clean and a role or two of plastic.

Wow awesome detailed report looks like a great trip! I myself and thinking of doing a Loreto trip I’m curious what the panga cost to charter and what other fees were there besides a tip at the end. Thanks a bunch

    I loved your post Steve!!!

You brought back so many great memories for me when I went about 7 years ago with a few friends.

We brought our fish to a restaurant for them to cook it up. And they had the best clams. Is this the same place you were at?

I work directly with my friend who charges $250 for the day. Through a hotel the same panga will be about $300. If you work direct with the capitan, his tip would be included in that amount. Through a hotel where they will take at least half, so the capitan could use a tip.

Hey we just got back from Loreto as well .. the weather was perfect and the fishing great ... we did not go out on a boat but took our travel gear and just shore fished every morning and evening .. Caught a ton of fish with an amazing variety of fish .. here is a pic of one we caught from shore .. it was a blast we used 20 lb spectra with 20 lb leader ( you need it with all the rocks you fish in ) ... I have done boats there as well and its always a good time ... but I have really gotten into the shore fishing in Loreto in the past few years ... this was in Danzante Bay ... IMG_3644.JPG

We were getting hit on any kind of soft plastic fish looking lures ... and cut squid and cooked shrimp pieces just free lining or small leadheads with bait on them ... I cant even tell you how many different species of fish we caught ... but the GULP minnow types of plastics worked until we literally ran out of them ... and we took a ton ... I caught one of the biggest Chopos aka Trigger Fish I had ever seen on one ... so we used from 2 inch size up to 6 inch ... what is surprising is what will eat a 6 inch one from shore ... wow .... but one word of advice is use at least 20 lb pink floro from shore .. the fish love to run you into the rocks ... and take a lot of Hooks ... didnt do much on hard lures or poppers thou ... cant wait to go back .. that was epic shore fishing for sure ..
