I've read a bunch of Jig Stick threads but ....

My first and current Jig Stick is a Seeker 550 with a Penn 500 and 30 lb. mono. I am getting the hang of casting it but that thing is heavy. I just got a deal on both a Penn 505 and a 506 and want to build a lighter rod. 30 lb. mono again. Thinking Super Seeker CJBF90 or a Grafighter 900M to throw from Tady 4/0 light to heavy. How much difference is there between the BTG 90J and GF 90J?
Thanks for sharing.

Don’t have any of the rods you listed. But I have an SS 6490 that I’ll take all day over my PH Uluah. I was catching 100 pound bluefin on poppers with that thing. Has loads of power

That SS 6490 was on my longer list. Does it cast surface irons and Tady 9 too. I'm a beginner at throwing the iron and don't know if I'm expecting too much from one rod.

F90 is pretty light, more of a bait stick. BTG 90j and BT90J are pretty similar action but the BTG has thinner walls so it’s lighter in weight, both good jig sticks and shine at fishing 40 but 30 is ok too. You can pull really hard with a 90J.
Never fooled with a 6490 but lots of people like them.
So many good jig sticks out there, no wrong choice really.

I have an custom 850M graphiter Calstar that I think is just a little light for the 7X but it might be right for you. I bought a Moon wrapped 850H from another Bloody Deck member and it is PERFECT for throwing the 7X on a Fathom 25 2ld with 40#. In both cases the rod is doing all the work not me.
