Left out of dana Point around 7 am ... Hit the 277 .. Nice warm break there .. water was 69.5 ... 66-67 the whole way out. work a few paddies for nothing but tons of mini Macs. We set up a slick and chummed heavy for one small mako (i mean small) late in the day .. he was gut hooked so we had no choice. Yes it was a circle hook .. but somehow he managed to swallow it. A swordfish boat was circling the area all day with his spoter plane, never saw him get anything though. Lots of bites but I think they were small blues being none of them could even take the bait we were offering.

sad year for Sharks ... Last year I would have released three or four and maybe kept one for the table. This year I have had one Mako and multiple blues in three outings.

Maybe I was too far out and should of stuck near the 267 and saved some gas ... who knows???

Sounds like most of us who hunt sharks are not doing so well this year?

Not a good year .. I give up as well ... I am headed to BOLA for a week (leaving in 3 days and 17 hours) just to catch some fish.
