Left out of dana Point around 7 am ... Hit the 277 .. Nice warm break there .. water was 69.5 ... 66-67 the whole way out. work a few paddies for nothing but tons of mini Macs. We set up a slick and chummed heavy for one small mako (i mean small) late in the day .. he was gut hooked so we had no choice. Yes it was a circle hook .. but somehow he managed to swallow it. A swordfish boat was circling the area all day with his spoter plane, never saw him get anything though. Lots of bites but I think they were small blues being none of them could even take the bait we were offering. sad year for Sharks ... Last year I would have released three or four and maybe kept one for the table. This year I have had one Mako and multiple blues in three outings. Maybe I was too far out and should of stuck near the 267 and saved some gas ... who knows???
