***$2500 REWARD - TRITON UPDATE - PLEASE SHARE!***

First off I would like to thank everyone for all your support over the last couple weeks. The phone calls and all the willingness to help just goes to show how tight our fishing community is!

If you didn’t hear about the attempt to sink the Triton on Jan. 9th you can read our first post of the incident here

Over the last 12 days two Port Detectives working the case have recovered hours of video surveillance of the two suspects. Along with that, divers have recovered more evidence from under and around the vessel including one more sledge hammer and a sledge hammer handle without a head on it. Detectives are also gathering video footage from surrounding city streets to further determine who owns the SUV that the suspects arrived in.

As for the Triton, the boat is fine. Although a lot of work, it’s been all cleaned up and gone thru and will be put back in action very soon.

With all the evidence that has been collected, we are confident we will find these two criminals. In the meantime we are offering a $2500 CASH REWARD to anyone that can help lead us to the arrest of these suspects.

Please watch the short surveillance clips below and give Detective Joyce or myself a call if you know anything.

    Detective Joyce (310) 560-5595
    Triton Sportfishing (310) 844-3814

Ryan, got any description of the SUV? The shot makes it look like a dark colored Grand Cherokee or a Jimmy loaded rear heavy.

I'm hoping the police find these guys before the boys do.

Always a good time fishing with ya.

    Lotta hate there.
And the boat was obviously targeted. Also a big sentence if caught.
Could have been anybody. But seems like somebody has a beef.

Sounds like you may already know this and your divers may have recovered it..... but just in case, at aprox 3:18 of the second video, the second guy coming off the boat drops something, then turns around and picks it up...... then at 3:23 he tosses it in the water.

Like said..... maybe it's what was already recovered by the divers.

Hope you nail these guys...... that's some seriously screwed up stuff!

Seems like a little detective work is all it will take to solve this. If the perps had any brains, they would fess up now -- show some remorse. That goes along way in a case like this where the boat didn't actually sink. DA would probably let them off with probation / community service, at least if they don't have priors. But if they wait until they are caught, jail time is likely (but should be mandatory). Wish I could help. If I end up on the jury, I won't fall for any lame excuse because there is no excuse. Someone (or more) needs to go to jail. And if it is a third strike, for a LONG time. I can't believe CA wants to change that law. The only change necessary is to make the inmates do road work to earn their keep and to set an example for would be criminals. Just IMHO.

Not sure my info is accurate, but I heard he did not actually submit the insurance claim, which is a pre-requisite to the major crime of insurance fraud. But apparently they had him for obstruction, false police report / statements, and conspiracy. Even so, he seems to have gotten off light.

This happened on the 9th and now it's the 21st.The investigation is probably already over.I mean no disrespect to law enforcement but i doubt this is a priority for them.

See what happens when you get skunked on a sporty.

You buy a black SUV and go all gangsta on their ass.

Rap music is clearly the blame.

You would be surprised, the Port Police only deal with such issues. Me not knowing jack about this, tampering with a Documented Vessel in a commercial harbor raises many red flags. Remember this entire harbor complex is a DHS/Police patrolled security area, this is a problem.

And OP said two detectives were working it -- it only takes one to take a report, so that indicates to me they want to make an arrest.

Felony vandalism at best. The way The prison system Is going I’d be surprised if they got much time. Maybe a couple years and probation. Speaking from seeing this type of thing first hand though i do agree that we would help not only the victim in this case but the overall well being of our state if we took the time to hold people accountable. Snowflakes are taking over

I think you have made the lobster poachers that operate on the frontside of catalina angry. Have you recovered any of their gear? About 15 years ago they got angry at dive boats and during the middle of the night at 22nd st landing,. attempted to set on fire both the "Charisma" & the "Encore". Luckily the FD got there quickly and kept damage to a minimum. It seems like these are the same kind of criminals.

Based on the fact they were there only to do damage and not take anything, my money would be on them being disgruntled employees. Fire anyone lately?
My second bet would be the damage was done by a competitor. Never underestimate the stupidity of those who feel the only way they can win is by hurting their competition. I gues you could call it the Tonya Harding philosophy.
    :spank::2gunsfiring_v1:

I hope they catch who ever did the damage. Good luck!
