Current steering system cable to power assist has froze up again. I have freed up in past (2 times) with heat gun, kept greased etc but this time it's time for a change.

Need SD shop for cable replacement or upgrading to hydraulic. At same time adding in Simrad AP 24 Auto Pilot. No time for DIY project so reliable fair local shop required. Currently Sunset has serviced the boat over the years and I am happy with the service received. Mechanic was not 100% sure on hydraulic and recommended elsewhere.

***** has kept me up to date on same for his and offered First Watch Marine, any other suggestions or reviews of First Watch?

Thanks

cable replacement is not bad but since you mentioned AP going hydraulic is the better/more reliable choice. I cant recommend any shops is my be a two shop deal. You could try giving san diego custom marine electronics on shelter island.

Thanks for replies, I'll be keeping the boat for awhile and feel the investment will be worth going to hydraulic and AP.

Fishbones thanks for Surge info, is he a mechanic/rigger? I tried Surge4130, wrong member, will try other today, thanks
