Time again for the 23rd Annual San Diego Bay Bass Tournament (Sat Jan 25, Shelter Island Launch ramp) hosted by San Diego Anglers and sponsored by Tow Boat U.S. and Fisherman's landing Tackle. It is a one day event fishing San Diego Bay targeting sand, calico and spotted bay bass. Two divisions are available boat (two-man team format) and kayaks. Each division will be bringing their largest 3 bass sack to the scales looking to win $1500 for the boat division and $500 for the kayak divisions. Pay down, based on 150 team field, will pay down 25 places on the boat side and 5 places on the kayak side (Sponsored by Fast Lane kayaks). There is an optional halibut jackpot ($5 per vessel) for all anglers for the largest halibut brought to the scales. This generally is about $1000 payout with Printing on Fifth kicking in a $250 sponsorship. A $250 prize is also given for the largest spottie weighed across the scales, sponsored bt Capt Bill Schaefers Guide Service and also a $250 kicker for the largest bass of the tournament weighed across the scales, sponsored by Seaforth Boat Rentals.

After the tournament we will be hosting a BBQ ( 1 pm to closing) sponsored by Iowa Meat Farms and Ballast Point Beer. This part of the tourney is free and open to the public. Weigh in starts at 12:30 and goes to 2 if you would like to come down to that. After the ceremonies, we will host a fundraiser raffle that is generously donated to by all of our great sponsors. We are asked many times where this funding goes to, which is general operation of the fishing club and also helping to fund all the community events that we do all year (Wounded warrior charters on the local sportboats, Kids fishing pier events on the San Diego Bay piers, Crystal Pier kids classic in July, Big Brothers and Sisters on the Bay, helping Butch at his Fishin in the Pines at lake Cuyamaca, to name a few.

It is a great day to come on down to the Bay and start the 2020 fishing season. Hope to see everyone down there!

If you are interested in participating, here is a link to our webpage, explaining the event and a link at the top of the page to download a form for the 2020 event.
