July 12 couple more pictures.
July 4th 2020 update almost 80 pictures added.

So I finally got a day to do some work on the new to 84 crystaliner.
She will be named My Tern.
I removed and replaced the bilge and live well pumps I used a 1200 rule for the bilge and a 1100 for the tank but got new hoses of course . I removed all of the old wire and installed my new blueseas 8 switch rocker panel. And thankfully the boat had a inline fuel pump so I am using that to drain the old fuel from the tank. This will be a long process due to my lack of free time. I also removed the old OMC. Haven't pulled the seadrive its self yet. I also removed the oil reserve tank that I will no longer be needing. Here are some pictures of the process.

For the time being I'm going to try to prop down my 115. I just bought it 2017 only has 400hrs and the remainder of the 6 year warranty. I am a bit concerned whether or not it is going to be enough power

You won’t win any races with a 115, but at least it’s not a deep V hull. It should plane a lot easier than if it was.... bracket mount?

Looking good. I recommend replacing that gate valve with a ball valve. They are much more reliable and last much longer. Can't tell you how many bad gate valves I've come across... when they go bad, they just spin but the gate will be frozen solid in either open or closed position.

So the project became bigger. I found out the the flotation bays had water in them so I am concerned about the welfare of the foam. So the deck comes off, foam gets chucked out. And bulkheads or stringers inspected. And then reverse that process.

Remove console and storage box first. Man 5200 is tough stuff. The console needed no screws holding it the.

20190907_074644.jpg 20190907_081755.jpg

Helm was stuck. I had to cut the plastic cup under the wheel to get a 3 jaw puller to get the wheel off. I broke 2 out of 3 helm mounting bolts 20190907_092554.jpg 20190907_101422.jpg

After removing the helm all my nice wiring got unmanaged. The console got lifted off leaning post unbolted. I used 2" stucco tape around the perimeter of the deck. Made my cut all around. But from the console area forward the deck didn't want to lift. The under side of the deck was glassed to the bulkheads. So I crawled in with a hammer and a chisel. 20190907_143525.jpg 20190907_151123.jpg 20190907_164509.jpg 20190907_171432.jpg 20190907_182640.jpg

Now I just need to figure out how to lift the deck in 1 piece. Problem is I don't hang out with alot of people. So I think I might need to cut it half so the pieces are more manageable.

I want to echo what was said above about the valve on your through hull fitting for the bait pump. You need to have a ball valve there. [If you dont know, what you have there is a gate valve. A ball has an arm you turn to close or open]

Last thing you want is a hole in the boat you cant close. All the hard work you are doing deserves to be protected by the right valve

[Corrected]

That IS a gate valve on the through hull.He should have a ball valve as others have stated.A ball valve will shut off a lot faster than a gate valve and will last longer. It's also less likely to fail to close when you need it to.

Hey Josh, if you need a hand hit me up. I’m hauling my Skipjack over to Scott’s later today. I finally got a running engine for it, and we’ll be getting the outdrive off to get the old engine ready for removal. Scott lives pretty close to you, and I wouldn’t mind lending a hand if you need it. I can’t speak for Scott, but he might be willing to lend a hand as well.

Most definitely noted. I'm not quite sure why I put a gate valve in the first place I always use ball valves

I don't like the look of the foam under the fuel lines.

20190908_093631.jpg

Got all of the foam dug out. And by dug I meen that literally a trenching shovel work really well. 20190908_094226.jpg 20190908_142227.jpg 20190908_142459.jpg

I think that foam has seen better days
Honestly there was a few damp spots of foam. But as far as saturated, none of it was really saturated, some of it had started to break down though, like it had lost density and got kind of airy . The water that drained out of my check holes was water that had leached its way around the foam and settled towards the stern. I probably could have left every bit of it in the boat and never had an issue. But now I will know without a doubt that I will have brand new 2lb foam. And the piece of mind that the stringers are not rotten and the entire boat has no structural / safety issues. To me that piece of mind is well worth a few days of work and a few hundred dollars.

I fear the gremlins I’m gonna run into when I get into that skip. I’m really hoping there’s very little to repair.

Had a free Sunday I got all of the foam poured, my floor joist installed, all of the foam over pour cut down and sealed with resin. I used about 12 gallons of 2lb 2part foam. Now I need to get my fuel tank back from the fabricator so I can re install my deck.

I'm thinking about building a fish hold under the deck. In the circled area. How big of a hatch do you guys think I will need? maybe a 24x24. Could I still effectively get away with a smaller hatch? . I plan to run a 3" wire/ control channel on the upper starboard stringer under the deck. And then insulated and glass in a kill box maybe 24x48. Or somewhere in that range. I think I could make a depression in the stern most section of the box, where I could install a pump to remove melted ice and blood.

I’ll let the more experienced answer, but I think a fish hold would be a nice addition.

I had one done on my old Radon. It was a big hold with a metal hatch and it sucked to climb inside to wash. So I made the lid same size as the hole. Also ran hot water to it so it doubled as a jacuzzi but that’s a different story.

I ended up building a box. 4'x2'. I've been working on the boat quite a bit lately. Just haven't got around to posting a bunch of pictures. My phone only let's me attach 1photo at a time. And it is a multi step process to post each photo.

Well little by little I'm making a ton of progress, and spending alot of money. Waiting on my bracket, should be completed next week. Lots of learning thus far. I've redone several things that I wasn't happy with. Since my last update I have patched holes in the transom and 27 others in the console. Installed Ed 2 bilge pumps, painted the transom and top of the console refurbished and crafted new wood trim, put some blue lights in the gunnels, bought and cut the flush mount hole for a 9" Simrad Evo 3 installed a SS175hw, got standard horizon matrix AIS/GPS Gx2200 radio and galaxy 5225 XT AIS antenna, built a 8 hole teak rod holder for the front of the console, built 2 3 hole rod holders for the sides of the storage box in front of the console. Replaced 2 and added an additional thru-hull outlet used SS instead of plastic. Removed a 12"x12"section in the face of the console that had alot if old gauge holes, cut it out and glassed in a new section. I'm sure I'm missing things but it's been a very long and expensive project but I'm getting close. So here is some pictures
