18' Bayrunner, but I like the American Angler and the Red Rooster III
Searcher ultra limited load with my brother (his first long range trip), Oct 7-14.
Gotta love an ultra-limited load! I recall Art on Let’s Talk Hookup, talking about one of those. He slid into a stop and when he left the bridge and went to look at what was going on, seeing only about a dozen or so anglers, he asked “Where is everybody?” Crew member on the tank said “This is everybody.”

Good luck everyone

Logged 86 beach fishing days for 2022 and it rains 200 days a year here

Goal is 125 beach fishing days for 2023. When fishing large live baits from the beach. I imagine myself in the stern of a LR boat. Trying for a giant yellowfin concentrating fishing the bait

January 17th will be fishing on this boat. Inshore
Screenshot_20230107_091323.jpg

Just had a marine mechanic completely dial in my jet ski. Nothing else to maintain for now, I hope. Can beach launch here so if everything goes as planned. Allot of days fishing off the ski. Really fk them up off the ski compared to from shore.

Skis are also great for run and gunning on bird schools in So Cal. Pick up and go. Drive right over kelp also. Impellar

North LJ. Grew up with a birds eye view of North LJ. Watching the birds and fish from home. I miss the backyard playground

With the horrible year on Wall Street I have had to cut back on trips this year. I have a July 8 day on the Intrepid booked. And I am on the wait list for another 8 to 15 day trips. Just 2 trips this year.
Thank you very much Federal Reserve for your stupid policies
Back up a little farther on the Federal Reserve thing. They're not the ones that started it. Their raising of interest rates is making me good risk free money. And my fishing goals for 2023 ? Not get blown off the water and find a great Bluegill bite somewhere.

wishing I had 100k+ in a mexican bank at 9%. I may carry a contract on my home and make good interest and also provide a cheaper than bank rate to a potential well qualified buyer, who can then refinance when the rates lower and make a paydown to me

Buddy run and gunning on yellows. He's Hawaiian and has a nice video landing a 100 pound Island Ahi. Will share when it's sent to me. Also Rob Machados tow surf partner. Rob is another Al Merrick prodigy

He departs from SD bay. Uses a velcro strap on the finger throttle for cruise control. Carrys extra gas and cruises down the Mexican coast line to fish and surf

Imo the ultimate inshore fishing machine for a angler and not a tourist or bozo. 360% of casting space. PV is warm water year round. I'm really excited to get mine back this week. Not sure on the laws in Mex but I'm pretty sure. Beach launching is allowed. Skis are fairly light weight and can be launched easily from shore. I solo launch if there is nobody to help me

I launch in front of my house next to a river mouth usually. The beach is one of the most powerful beach breaks in Central America and its still fairly easy to beach launch even when the surf is XL with big surge. We tow surf allot but I'm getting older and my 2 tow partners have retired who are older then me by over a decade. Nobody else here can drive in the surf but one other person who is busy. So I'm going to be using the ski more for fishing now which should keep the repairs to a minimum. With less driving radical in the surf and white water. Just need to drive 1/2 kilometer :D and drift or anchor in front of a river mouth

For fishing. I do prefer to beach launch as the tide is coming in and return as the tide is going out, ideally. Soft sand here and 4x4 trucks can get stuck. I know of 2 trucks lost in the surf from launching for tow surfing on huge days. So I like to back the truck up just above the water line. Detach the trailer from the truck and drive the truck farther up to dry sand. Push the trailer to below the water line on the outgoing surge. Wiggle the ski off then drag the trailer back to the truck and park. Since the tide is incoming the ski won't get stuck in the sand. Just wait for the water to fill in then push the ski out to waist deep water and drive away.

Sometimes I will wiggle the ski off the trailer way above the water line on incoming tide. Then come back 2 hours later and the tide has filled in and just push the ski out :D

Returning with the tide now going out. Run at the beach fast and about in waist deep water turn the ski off and glide to shore and beach the ski. Now with the tide going out. Not much risk of getting the truck too close to the water. Drive the truck back near the ski. Detach the trailer from the truck and drag the trailer to the ski. Load the ski on the trailer. Then back the truck down to the trailer and attach the trailer back to the truck. Then drive away

When the surf is big. This is the way to not loose your truck to the waves. Some people keep the trailer attached to the truck the entire launching and loading process. That is risky to be backing the truck tires into the oceans breaking waves and then launch the ski from off the truck or load the ski onto the truck with trailer attached.

I really suggest. Detaching the trailer when launching and loading. Keeping the truck as far away from the sea water and surf as possible.

If the shore break is pounding and the ski can't be loaded onto the trailer. Attach a tow rope to the front of the ski and then attach to the truck. Slowly slowly drag the ski to dry sand then load the ski onto the trailer

I have been to PV a few times. Giant bay with no surf so very easy to beach launch or launch in one of the harbors. Mexico is a big Country though so this is a good technique if you want to fish a area but the surf is big

Allot can be done with a ski. Here is my buddy inside a tube I towed him into a few months back. He can't drive though but he can surf. Towing with a rope. You can see the only other person here with a Ski in back. Setting up for the next wave. They were doing step offs. The ski surfs the wave and the rider. Literally jumps off the ski onto his board then stands up to catch the wave

Skis go so fast. Mine has a after market impellar and is a Yamaha FX SHO 3 seater. The powerful one. Goes 75mph 🤙🏾 uses very little gas. That is the thing with a ski. Fish inshore all day for $30 in gas or less. Drifting and anchor fishing. Can use $3 in gas total

    Can't do this in Cali.
    Screenshot_20230108_083728.jpg

Me driving. We tow with the ski in front of the wave. More surgical when the driver can see the face of the wave and rider.

    FB_IMG_1673190419949.jpg

When we first started tow surfing. The ski was in back of the wave. First tow tube ever

So you know the potential and the scene :D if you hook a big fish. Can lay the rod on your knee. Like laying the rod on the rail

Fishing in PV is way better then where I live

Been to PV 3 times. One time for this fish, second time to board the RP to fish Clipperton, third time got a Sail with Osunas. Having a ski to fish in PV with 13 years experience. Your going to crush it and PV is easy to maintain a ski

1st trip to PV. 2003 considerably larger then a LR dock weighed 298. Unfortunately 2 scales malfunctioned and couldn't find a tape back then

Got your message. All sounds epic and thanks. Hope to make it someday. Get one.

Yes! That is the Yolaray. Manny was driving and correct. Corbetana Rock when the water was good. So rad. Be fishing Cows in 2 hours without having to be near the islands

We did a article with pacific coast sportfishing in 2003 or 02 you might had seen it. Kinda blew the spot up for giant YFT but it helped the industry there. Letting the cat out of the bag. Bro also on the boat filming Wicked Tuna and he did Battlefish

Soda, per usual you amaze me with trips. I always feel I have a lot of sea time until I compare myself to you.

As for trips, I private boat fish almost every weather bearing weekend of the year. I usually average about 60 private boat days a year. As for big trips they go as the following:
    Game Changer 2.5day April 1-4
    Searcher 2.5 End of May
    Searcher 3 day July 4th-7
    Searcher 8 day July 26thish-August8th
California dawn full day August 16,17th,18th
    Searcher 3 day September 20-23rd
    Searcher 7 day October
    Shogun 5 day December 26th-31st

This list doesn't include my shore fishing while at my maritime academy which is almost 7 days a week.

Wow, impressive fishing schedule for many!! After my planned move (escape) to Tennessee in the coming months, expect to devote more time to chasing green fish (largemouth bass) and striped bass. Looking forward to the following long-range trips:

Phenix Rods Excel 8 day (7 to 15 June)
Phenix Rods Excel 10 day (24 September to 4 October)

Good luck to all, tight lines!

    Yes, impressive & commendable!
Maybe recheck your posted Searcher dates/trip lengths before any hard scheduling :-)
Also on a couple '23 Searcher trips.
    Best 'o Luck!

I actually haven't every done a long range yet. Longest I've done is overnights. It's long been a bucket list thing for me and this year I plan on expanding my horizons by doing at least a 1.5 maybe 3 day. Thinking maybe the Legend or maybe the Amigo
