Buddy run and gunning on yellows. He's Hawaiian and has a nice video landing a 100 pound Island Ahi. Will share when it's sent to me. Also Rob Machados tow surf partner. Rob is another Al Merrick prodigy
He departs from SD bay. Uses a velcro strap on the finger throttle for cruise control. Carrys extra gas and cruises down the Mexican coast line to fish and surf

Imo the ultimate inshore fishing machine for a angler and not a tourist or bozo. 360% of casting space. PV is warm water year round. I'm really excited to get mine back this week. Not sure on the laws in Mex but I'm pretty sure. Beach launching is allowed. Skis are fairly light weight and can be launched easily from shore. I solo launch if there is nobody to help me
I launch in front of my house next to a river mouth usually. The beach is one of the most powerful beach breaks in Central America and its still fairly easy to beach launch even when the surf is XL with big surge. We tow surf allot but I'm getting older and my 2 tow partners have retired who are older then me by over a decade. Nobody else here can drive in the surf but one other person who is busy. So I'm going to be using the ski more for fishing now which should keep the repairs to a minimum. With less driving radical in the surf and white water. Just need to drive 1/2 kilometer

and drift or anchor in front of a river mouth
For fishing. I do prefer to beach launch as the tide is coming in and return as the tide is going out, ideally. Soft sand here and 4x4 trucks can get stuck. I know of 2 trucks lost in the surf from launching for tow surfing on huge days. So I like to back the truck up just above the water line. Detach the trailer from the truck and drive the truck farther up to dry sand. Push the trailer to below the water line on the outgoing surge. Wiggle the ski off then drag the trailer back to the truck and park. Since the tide is incoming the ski won't get stuck in the sand. Just wait for the water to fill in then push the ski out to waist deep water and drive away.
Sometimes I will wiggle the ski off the trailer way above the water line on incoming tide. Then come back 2 hours later and the tide has filled in and just push the ski out
Returning with the tide now going out. Run at the beach fast and about in waist deep water turn the ski off and glide to shore and beach the ski. Now with the tide going out. Not much risk of getting the truck too close to the water. Drive the truck back near the ski. Detach the trailer from the truck and drag the trailer to the ski. Load the ski on the trailer. Then back the truck down to the trailer and attach the trailer back to the truck. Then drive away
When the surf is big. This is the way to not loose your truck to the waves. Some people keep the trailer attached to the truck the entire launching and loading process. That is risky to be backing the truck tires into the oceans breaking waves and then launch the ski from off the truck or load the ski onto the truck with trailer attached.
I really suggest. Detaching the trailer when launching and loading. Keeping the truck as far away from the sea water and surf as possible.
If the shore break is pounding and the ski can't be loaded onto the trailer. Attach a tow rope to the front of the ski and then attach to the truck. Slowly slowly drag the ski to dry sand then load the ski onto the trailer
I have been to PV a few times. Giant bay with no surf so very easy to beach launch or launch in one of the harbors. Mexico is a big Country though so this is a good technique if you want to fish a area but the surf is big
Allot can be done with a ski. Here is my buddy inside a tube I towed him into a few months back. He can't drive though but he can surf. Towing with a rope. You can see the only other person here with a Ski in back. Setting up for the next wave. They were doing step offs. The ski surfs the wave and the rider. Literally jumps off the ski onto his board then stands up to catch the wave
Skis go so fast. Mine has a after market impellar and is a Yamaha FX SHO 3 seater. The powerful one. Goes 75mph

uses very little gas. That is the thing with a ski. Fish inshore all day for $30 in gas or less. Drifting and anchor fishing. Can use $3 in gas total
Can't do this in Cali.

Me driving. We tow with the ski in front of the wave. More surgical when the driver can see the face of the wave and rider.

When we first started tow surfing. The ski was in back of the wave. First tow tube ever
