As-of today (4.17.2017) there's not yet a Spot Prawn season in Areas 10, 11, or 13 for 2017. The tribal "co-managers" are pushing-back (surprise-surprise) against the sport fishery and planning to pound this resource like never-before.

The seasons should be identified by the end of this week, after their final test fishery over the past weekend.

I believe there is a multi tribal fishery in the next week or so in the canal as well. They plan on making a huge dent in the population before the sporties get a chance. If 10 and 11 don't get seasons Ma 12 will be shut down after a day or two...

Word I heard they are taking 25,000 lbs of the estimated 30,000 out there. And WDFW has no say in the matter

Unfortunately some of us won't be around to shrimp on the 6 th cause the state is forcing us to choose between bugs and butts. So guess I'll be out the next week looking for derelict pots in the canal. Anything I can do to help the environment.

Last I heard, from a friend of mine who's on the shellfish advisory council was that we should have heard something late last week. I received the following e-mail from the state shellfish bio on 4/14/2017:

We are still not exactly sure of the shrimp seasons in Marine Areas 10, 11 and 13, as we are still in negotiations with the Tribes, primarily regarding quotas, in those areas. Basically, we believe that the spot shrimp abundance in those areas is high enough to warrant some quota increases, however it appears that most of the Tribes in those areas do not agree, we'll see, at this point I am starting to get less optimistic. As soon as we know we will post the open days on our shrimp web page. The shrimp seasons in all other parts of Puget Sound/Straits, etc. are set.

In the meantime, the tribes are getting theirs... and maybe ours.

The testing must be going well.I was at the PT.D launch last night and 3 tribal boats came in.Each boat had 2 Big plastic garbage cans full of shrimp. The cans were so heavy that 2 chiefs had a hard time lifting them up.They slid them along the dock and into a pickup.

I hear the ex-pat process in Canada is getting difficult. But all this BULLSHIT may force me to start practicing my "EH" and singing "Oh Canada". How come the natives in Canada don't run the show, like down here?

    WOW, frustrating is an understatement...

Oh yeah, then in about a month the tribes will implement their "carpet bombing" campaign on any Dungees that survived last year.

Ammo for what? They self police and the Tulalip fish and wildlife director showed us how well that's working, no judge/lawyer is going to take on Boldt, wouldn't be surprised if NOAA is getting paid by the tribes, the Times won't touch an article about them as they want want ad money they can get for their dying biz, a grocery store boycott or awareness campaign won't mean much since a lot of their catch is for out of state demand and what stays in state, well, the average consumer gives zero fucks about where their shit comes from as long as it's cheap, as evidenced by the rise of Walmart and dollar stores.

It's a shame that the state won't man up and put toll booths outside of the tribal lands with casinos and charge folks that are leaving that sovereign land. If we can't work hand in hand for positive let's start fucking them as much as they fuck us.

This states fisheries are going to end up like street racing. Last minute chain text. Everyone rolls their boats to said location. 200 boats power shrimping one area, slowest guy gets the ticket.
