I know its not SD Long Range but the 20VISX will see a great deal of use in the LR scene.

This fish was caught last night offshore of NY&NJ. The 20VISX was fishing 60# leader at the time.
Fight was over 2 hours.

The boat is the Canyon Runner. One of the top Tuna Sportfishing boats on the east coast.

The Canyon Runner team was also one of the VISX test teams for several years prior to their release.

Great Job by all on board.

Was that with spectra and a 60# leader or straight 60# mono?

They usually fish 100# Hollow Core and BHP windons. Not sure exactly what the mainline was but I can confirm it was 60# leader.

catching 200# bigeye(?) with 60# leader is testing the leader and your knots.... Great test and bragable accomplishment for the fisherman - even for professionals, like yourselves.

Slap a 200# leader on that rig and button the 50#s of rated drag....... then you'll have some realtime reel testing. :D

A bright spot for a bleak fall canyon season so far

Joe - The worst season I have ever seen in my 35 years of commercial and recreational fishing.

Give the CR credit for getting it done.

Definitely But we can only hope it's cyclical. Early 1990s we're lean years too. I was a kid but there was some great fishing at the Bacardi late 80s. All bluefin but the party boats didn't really venture out to the canyons then. I hope it turns around next season
