Hello All

Looking for a little help here with building setups for 3/4 day and future 1.5 day trips.

Current Setups are:
30# CalStar BWC 970c / Avet MXJ 2speed
40# Proteus 76XHF 30-60 /Avet JX
JigStick UC Wahoo / Avet JX 2 Speed (50#)

So I bought a Proteus Boat 80MF 10-25# to build a 20# setup that I plan to pair with an SXJ. My main question here is, is this an appropriate action (MF) for YT or small school sized tuna?

Also have a HX 2 Speed that I got a screaming deal on. What Setup for those 1.5 days do u recommend I run this reel with.

Thanks for any help/suggestions in advanced.

I've always said, if you're gonna fish 50, might as well fish 60....unless you are pushing rod/reel too far.

I’d go with a 15-40 rated rod. The 10-25 are nice, but just for peanut size pelajics. If it was for bass I’d say it’s okay, but I’d still recommend the 15-40.

You could grab a lexa, tranx or other 300 size reel and use the rod for a bass stick when needed.

10-25, might make a good Halibut stick.

I love my Avet SXJ loaded with 200yds of 30lb spectra and almost 100yds of 20lb izor mono. Best fly lining 20lb reel. I have it paired with an 8' seeker rated 12-25lbs, I don't know the blank# but its super soft on the tip. I can fling those dines or chovies away from the boat
