Finally a day off from work. Got to the harbor late at 8am and was surprised it was empty. Headed out thru some choppy seas towards Kaena and lost a bull mahi outside Makaha along side my boat. Thought i'd pick up some bottom fish for weekend pupus but saw waves breaking at the spot. Thought of heading out to CO but was getting some cracks on the way so decided to work V buoy area instead. Good decision..first pass ono, second mahi, third mahi. Saw some birds nearby so gave chase but nada. Went back to the plan and hanapaa another mahi. Decided we took enough cracks for the day when the corner goes off and line starts peeling out then down. For the next 15mins I'm thinking could it be? Just then the fish breaks the surface and its a good sized donkey then the line cuts. Ho well, still had a blast getting out for the first time in 2011! Tight lines y'all!

that head looks like one that i made and sold. if the back of the head is drilled out so the crimp can sit in it, then thats the guy. none the less at least your friend gave you a good one.
