Remember you are the one fishing the jigstick, we have given you recommendations. Now you need to go to a tackle shop and pull on them to see what feels good to you.
Thats the problem with living in the central valley is that i can't unless its a brand from Turners. I'll just hit up Bob Sands on my way to SD in late April

No boat but you might be feeling generous :)
    Anyone like/use the Turner's Californian CTX 909H (25-60#)?

I heard they use Phenix blanks so it seems like it would be a great rod for the price
I have used this rod its pretty nice, it has a faster action, less parabolic. Great bang for your buck and if you just want to try out jigsticks

It's a good thing i don't fish until late April because reading this thread has caused me to become overwhelmed....
Oh...this'll be fun. Wait until you officially go down the jigstick rabbit hole. You think you're overwhelmed now??? Wait until you can't decide what rod to bring because you love them all. I went down that road and have cut my rods back by 70%. Much less anxiety...lol

Glass 90J…. But going to a shop and pulling them is one thing but throwing one is another thing. We all get jig sticks to make long cast accurate cast with as few backlashes at possible… it’s gonna happen but the fewer between the better. I learned on a glass 90j then moved on to the Super Seeker Baby Ulua and Super Seeker Ulua. Those are what I have stuck with and haven’t found anything better in my opinion.

"Why have one when we can have them all....." the old bull. I loved learning on a 90j it taught me to be patient and load up the rod. That patience pays dividends across all the other platforms I have thrown or borrowed for the day. Learning to use the rod and not overthrow the jig can be done on any jig stick but there is something special about a 90j with a cord wrap.

UC’s new MCR950 at 9’6” a colab design of Randy Penny and Huan at Moons Customs Rods thus the name MCR 😎

I was fortunate to be able to test it out before it came out on 10 yellows up to 26# fishing 50 on surface iron throwing it into 15 kt winds all day.
It’s now one of my go to jig sticks.

I also have the US90 & US100 Monsters but since been put in storage for now.
If you want 10’, I luv my UC10E
Brian, did you fish one of the MCR93 rods? Wondering how it compares to the UC one. I was waiting on the red UC but no luck so he is wrapping me a black one.

Seeker 7X could be worth a look although hard to go wrong with the tried and true 90J

MCR93 ?? Never heard of that one.
I was able to test out Moons prototype red MCR 950’s and I have one of my own in black. It’s not a traditional parabolic glass stick wher legit loads up slowly. The MCR is a faster load so you kinda have to be get use to it. It’s my go to Med size surface iron jig stick at 9’6”. I caught yellows up to 26 lbs on it on the Pride over the summer.

Moon did a run on these. Big butt glass rod. Really fun rod to fish, casts even the Tady AA or A1's nicely. Only fished it a few times for smaller YT and DoDos.

Which is best is a personal preference.
My advice is to buy something you can practice with and don't mind it getting a few dings and scrapes.
Used Calstar 90J would be perfect.
A Phenix Abyss 909 or an Shimano Teramar 9' would be some cheaper options to learn with.

    Rod Preference:
My personal preference is the Phenix 909HJ. I prefer heavier jigs and don't mind putting in work on the swing.

Check out a BTG 6490H. Without a doubt the only 80lb west coast jig stick. I can throw a JRI5 and 4oz poppers no problem. I fish a 40N.

UC Wahoo would be better if you've gotta really horse on some big game with 40-60#. UC Monster is pleasantly lighter and the 3-4oz range would be nice with it, 30-40# sweet spot. I haven't played with the 9e but they say it's The One. You'd probably be the right candidate to pull on one and try. Presumably not my thing cuz it’s a faster action.

Edit: I often forget to add the lineup I’m talking about. Talking CE series, glass tip. More parabolic which I like. More affordable which I also like.

The US80 wahoo us a great rod for throwing jigs. I also use a GP85 Monster which I would say is good but the wahoo is better for throwing heavier jigs.

I like very fast rods so I prefer the US and GP vs. the CE.
