What's this thing worth. It has a 200hp yamaha 1991 with 1100 hours which runs fine.
Can I go wrong re-powering it with a 250hp Etec and new electronics since I only paid $2500 for it. If I go with the 4G radar and a nice sonar I will have about $26k in it.. Is it worth it?

Great platform, Highly sought after, and a tough find with the closed transom. Repower, inspect/replace fuel tank, inspect/reinforce transom, fish for a season and see if you like it. For $2500 plus those upgrades, you'll get back what you invest in it.

Pulled the tank and pressure tested it. Looks good. New sending unit. Rewiring and upholstery. Everything new.

If the current engine runs fine, why not use it for the season? Go ahead and upgrade the electronics, upholstery, and those other things you have in mind. Save the money on a new engine and make sure the boat suits your needs. Then over the winter, have it re-powered if you still feel you want to repower it. That's my opinion. No matter what you do, you got a great deal to start with. Good luck and enjoy.

It's looking like someone would pay what I have invested if I do re-power ... re-power it is.. thanks for the feedback guys

In front of your face....

In between the t-tops front supports to keep water from getting you wet while your crashing through some snotty swell on the return from a epic day of slaying fish.

I honestly don't know....

Why this isn't moved to the "check out my new boat" thread.

Google might be your friend and or fellow BD'rs will know the answer. I enjoy getting wet.

2500 ? WTF. But it looks like you've got a little work to do. Personally, I would go 200 E etc HO, propped properly, 25" shaft. Little less weight to get those scuppers above water, should still be plenty of power. Trim tabs helped also.
Keep the pics coming of your project and choices of motor and electronics....

I know a someone who paid that for a 15' aluminum with a 20hp motor. Deal of the century for you.

Repower and I bet you could get your money back out of it!

Thanks for the clarification Kirk....what power do you have on your 226. My batteries are in the OE floor hatch. I'm leaving them there for now. Not really worried about the scupper thing, or my batteries shorting out,I was just thinking out loud, shows what the heck I know , right.

Before I start throwing thousand dollar bills at this thing the only real question I have is if a 250 Etec 25" will ride ok or do I need a 30" with a jack?

This ain't 1986 anymore. I mean, are you suggesting the 10 lbs in weight savings will really have that much affect on ride quality? Sorry but I'd take the reliability of the new 4 strokes over the etecs any day.

Etec 250hp 30" shaft = 552lbs
Yamaha 250hp 30" shaft = 562lbs

Like I said, WTF do I know.....I did not know 200 and 250's were the same weight.
I was thinking a 200 25" weighed 500 or a tick less.
