My usual late start of around 11am.

Headed to 14 Mile Bank with water from 73-74 degrees.

There were about 6 boats spread out in the area. LOTS of different tern gangs chasing bait everywhere. The birds were working non stop. Marked bait balls around 50 feet.

Headed south towards the 209 since I didn't want to deal with the other boats. After only a minute of leaving the pack behind, I see terns having a party.

Then I saw a small tuna foamer with fish jumping above the surface. Chased them but they went down.

Chased terns the rest of the time and saw two more small foamers. One actually swam right into my boat just to give me a glimpse of the 2-3 foot tuna chasing bait. Five seconds and they were gone. Only got one cast of a Tady 45.

Lots of paddies trolling back but all were dry. Snotty water after 2pm.

Need to get out there at a respectable time, like 4am to make it a real day.

I'm 0 for life so far but staying positive LOL.

Great report, late start like my last trip doesn't always pay off. But it's better then sitting on the computer working. You learn something each time out.

Hang in there it will get better definitely want to get out a lot earlier to get to your spot before Daybreak and start your routine helps out a lot gives you more time on the water .during the day one of my best trips was 140 nautical miles 1 yellowtail started off late ending up on a kelp Paddy yanking a 15 pound yellowtail out of the kelp was really pissed off that day until I caught that fish, stay positive and focused, it will happen don't forget to say a prayer to the man upstairs because without him nothing is possible.

I feel your pain. I have been searching since May for YT and logged many hours offshore after that for nada. I have no luck.

Saw a guy and his adult son at the DP launch ramp in the afternoon. They had a Reliable Bag that seem to have the goods. I asked, "tuna?", "Yes down in SD, launched out of there yesterday". "You arranged your trailer to be here when you got back?". "Yes". "Where did you catch them?" "South".

Some fisherman have "Lock Jaw" as much as the fish do this year.

keep the faith....there are tuna both inside and outside the local banks...plus hurricanes off Mexico should push up more warm water and more gamefish!

I have more skunk trips than I care to admit this season. Repeat of last year, when i should have waited until October to start fishing.
