Left HH at 6:00 am and ran to LB Bait barge for a scoop of scrawny anchovies. From there we aimed at the 14 and trolled the area for about an hour for nothing. Lot of bait, a few other boats but no life other than the metered bait.

Aimed at the 277 and began trolling about 2 miles west. We spent an hour there for nothing. Found about 20 other boats working the area but it didn't look like any were having success either.

Ran to the 209, trolled, stopped on several nice patties but still no luck.

After that effort we started toward the 43 and we began trolling again after changing out the feathers in favor of colors similiar to the large numbers of flying fish we were kicking up in the area. Shortly thereafter we had a knockdown on the port rigger on a blue and white Zuker. It was a nice Bull Dorado that had a couple others tagging along with their big brother as he worked his way to the gaff. Once he was at the swimstep I threw a 3" Chovy on a #2 circle and 20# line that immediately was picked up. We boated this fish, a nice Hen Dorado, and saw another. Another bait in the water enticed this Dorado to hook itself but it was a short lived hooking and it broke off the 15# line. The two fish we got on this stop were in the 22-30 pound range-nice fish!

Set out the trollers again and with the wind coming up and a long boat ride ahead we aimed at the Avalon Bank in route to HH. On our way the blue and white Zuker was picked up by another Dorado and followed with another baited Dodo.

We fished awhile longer and caught a couple Bonito near the Avalon Bank on blue and white P-line feathers then headed in.

Never had that much luck with blue and white trolling feathers but they were the only baits getting chased today. My normal spread usually is filled with blank/purple, mean joe green, zucchini or Mexican flag. Fortunate we experimented, I don't believe if we had continued with our normal spread we would've produced the same results.

We've caught one fish on the troll all season....find the birds and you found the tuna! Better luck on your next trip.
