A recent Press Release about 13Fishing's new spinning reel. It mentioned a Cast Iron & Carbon frame. This really intrigued me & very quickly got my attention......cast iron ?/)%$#(T^^$# .
I even sent off an email to 13 Fishing & expect a response in due course.
It just struck me as strange that you would make a feature out of cast iron for a fishing reel in a water environment. EG: rust & weight. Sure they may have a very light reel & the cast iron never comes in contact with any water, but the use of the word cast iron just seems a strange ingredient for a fishing reel.
YOUR thoughts please BLOODYDECKERS.
Hey, it might just be me.

.....laughing. Brother....after reeling in your fish with that "cast iron" reel... you use the reel as a Billy club to dispatch it.

One possibility . In the misinterpretation of many languages is any sign..... they might be saying....." It casts iron" well. ??? Dont know.

It's a carbon composite that's supposed to feel and perform like a conventional metal frame. Possibly the stupidest marketing name to choose. I'm guessing some form of molded thermoplastic with carbon black.
