Picked off a few around 4ish and dropped one more time right as the sun was coming up. Ran to the bait barge to grab some bait and pulled the pots as the sun was rising, 3 more in the pot....who says they don't crawl in the light. We ended with 6 keepers and tossed 6 back. 0630 ish we headed to go out looking for yellowtail. Didn't see any promising signs or meter marks so we went a lil farther out trolling for shark. Around 0900 we decided to go back to the original plan of halibut drifting. Well actually the original plan was to go to the nados but one of my passengers didn't have a passport. A good friend informed me of a good local bite going on. Focused on 60'-90' ft of water around 12pm BOOM as soon as I hit the bottom, I'm bit. Ran around the boat thinking it was a yellowtail or white sea bass due to how hard it was fighting. My buddys pulls the gaff out "Sorry man im gonna gaff it myself" I've lost a few due to rookie gaffs. After a few runs the fish comes up and i stick him right in the face! A few pictures and a few more drops we headed in around 1330 to weight it at the gas dock. 43lbs on the scale. Ended up trading a local charter for some blue fin and it was well worth it. Halibut, lobster, and bluefin cant get any better than that trio. 25 lb test on an accurate 400. With the info and pictures you can kind of get a good idea of where I was. Oh yeah, we even landed a few good calicos and 2 octopus to go along. Any good octopus recipes are welcome. Get out there and make some memories fellow fisherman, thanks for taking the time to check out this thread

43#'s doesn't suck. Seems like it's been a while since I've seen anything over 40#'s lately
