We left with 29 and a load of good smaller/med. bait and ran to the Rocks. Cooling water temps on the trip resulted in 6 hoo day 1, 2 yt overnight at the Bank, and 3 more hoo the final day at the Rocks. We ran in to the 23 and had good fishing on 25# yft on 40#. We made near limits in good weather and then ran in to Mag to make a small load of macs. 3 days on the Potato Bank resulted in only 4 quality tuna topped by a 268 on a 100# rent rod with a sardine on a 4/0 Charlie Brown ringed hook. Guys filled out their limits on the smaller yft. But the size of the bait and the continual quest for a strong small hook made it tough to get bit on the better grade fish. The bumpy ride home along the coast resulted in a few more yt . It was great to fish with Capt. Matt for the first time since he was engineer on the boat. I look forward to my 16 day with him in March after a long hiatus on the longer trips. Unfortunately one of the nicest guys and best fisherman on the boat had his truck stolen out of the overflow lot. I do not have further details but luckily another passenger was able to give him a ride back to Fresno.

That totally sucks big time. Was it a newer vehicle, a truck? I ask because of the keyless system VS older keyed system.

Thanks Tony for an update. I was wondering how you were doing.

That really sucks that your friend had his truck stolen. I guess we need to dig out those “Clubs” to park down there or anywhere.

    Merry Christmas.

that sucks, but at least it didn't have all his rods and reels in it. Insurance will get a new truck but arguing about the value of fishing stuff is another matter.

I feel his pain Brother! I had 4 trucks stolen, my last Tundra had every piece of Anti-thief technology available known to man then! Nothing worse, than walking to you thought your truck was parked, and coming to the realization that it has been stolen! The last one! It took me about 3 seconds, and I was thinking, well another one was stolen! I might as well put a sign on the window, saying the keys are on the driver's seat! There is probably not many things more frustrating than realizing someone has stolen your prized vehicle! The first one stolen had a bunch of rods and reels and tackle in it! And I was only gone for about 5 minutes! I'm about about ready to have a seizure thinking about it! Good thing for the offenders I didn't catch them! I'd probably be in prison for life!

I despise those that steal vehicles! I drive Toyota trucks, had 3 Tundras stolen, and years ago a brand new Tacoma. Car thieves love Toyota trucks. Very frustrating, my insurance agent told me, the offenders part them out. The air conditioners are worth $2,000 on the black market! Not to mention everything else! Very frustrating to not see your vehicle parked where you left it! On the brite side, never had a vehicle stolen or tampered with in the parking lot of the 3 landings in Point loma. Have left my vehicles there on countless long range trips, so I guess im lucky as far as that goes..

Fun trip. Laid lumber on solid school grade ridge tunafish. Fished with three hundred pounders seeing your bait 🤙🏾 Good luck on the long trip

Ugh. Sorry to hear about this. The overflow lot :(

Park the vehicle. Open the hood. Loosen or disconnect or remove something. So the car can not be stollen. I can use a coin and just turn the idle down

Right now. Must bump start my car to steal. Not saying that is a good thing. My 88 Toyota hilux can be started with anything that fits into the ignition.

Put one of these inside. For $20 home depot. Freak a tweaker out and they just might run

hopefully something other than jail occurs. This is ca, most people are not allowed to do jail time for stealing vehicles (or anything else). A stolen vehicle is usually a few hrs in jail and no more after the plea

I'm using a Apple AirTag ($29) for this likelihood in addition to already pre-hardened thief prevention measures when parking in those lots. The AirTag is securely concealed on the truck. I have this device assigned to a family members iPhone - since that cell phone will always be onshore - while I'm out on a long duration trip. The Airtag will ping and provide visual location information of the vehicle to the assignee's cell. However, this device will not send an actual real-time notification of the theft. So, whenever I'm away on any trip(s), and my family member notices that my vehicle has moved, they'll be able to quickly get things rolling long before my trip gets back. Just hoping that the dirt-bag doesn't decide to jack my ride on the morning of my return!

I put an Air Tag in my truck for my 11-day. Fortunately, I didn't need to use it. It does make a sound when it senses motion initially though, and if the thieves have a tracking device scanner they can see if one of one the car.

Sorry to hear about that. Not a stolen truck, but the heater hose on my 1998 4Runner burst at 10 at night so called a mechanic (trusted) and had it towed to a mechanics garage in Santee. At 7am he called me to tell me my truck had been stripped. Completely. All seats, dashboard gauges, window and door locks, door panels, everything. Insurance totaled it and paid the KBB value after negotiations. I really don't like insurance companies. But hate thieves...

Being close definitely makes driving to the landings easy. Makes dealing with the processors easy, too.
