Very nice, long boat ride. How much gas did you guys burned?

we burned 152 gallons, 347 miles total traveling from Dana Point to Pyramid Cove to Cortez/Tanner then back to Dana Point. It was a learning experience for my 23 footer but I will be better prepared next time.

Congrats on another awesome trip, you guys know how to get it done! Questions:
  1. Did you take bait or empty bait tank?
  2. Why 347 miles?
  3. Where did you store the extra fuel?
  4. Did you spend the night at Pyramid?

Hopefully that 300 lber will be waiting for you after this storm. :-)

1. no live bait
2. we moved between Cortez and Tanner couple times and did not drift much.
3. full cans on the deck and empty cans on the bracket secured with bungee straps(you can see some of the cans in the pictures)
4. yes, night before

Just take extra 5-5gallons if you panning to get there then drift but my style of fishing is not to drift so I will bring 10-5 gallons next time goin go Cortez.

selling because i suck at fishing!!
I saw you out there I was on the condor definitely was wide open and I can’t believe you go that far to Tanners bank on a 23 foot boat with a single engine that absolutely takes huge balls! I am so glad you got fish!! and you made it back alive I guess if anything goes wrong you can call vessel assist .

I did not worry about the engine since it got less then 300 hrs and the weather was really good that day. I was more worried about not having enough gas for our first time.

Wow, surprised you remembered that. Yes I did! Graduated in December of 2018. Now working on my masters degree in fisheries science up north in Monterey. But lately, I’ve been spending most of my time down here in Southern California.

Here goes for those that doubted the miles. There are 3 routes in 3 different dates but look at the middle

Hey Tom please don’t take it personally I was just questioning 346 miles because I’ve done the run before and it’s much shorter than that 🤷🏻‍♂️🤷🏻‍♂️
Because when I look at a map it’s about 100 miles give or take each way not over 150 miles each way
