Yes, its a weird set up, but it will do it in neutral only. Very easy check and fix. If that is what is causing it. I would just check / grease it

As an update. The boat is still at the shop. They are kinda bouncing back and forth from looking at mine to working on others.

They have been talking with Yamaha. Yamaha told him to just back track and redo the service, he did still has no change.

I am truly at a point of frustration. I have now missed 3 Saturdays due to what, trying to keep up on engine maintenance.

I'm not sure what to do next, should I leave the boat at the shop another week and let them try to figure out what they fucked up.

    I relayed the tip from.
    Still no change.

Should I take it somewhere else and pay someone else to fix it. Im broke at the end of each week. I had to put my $640 service on my credit card, I dont want to have to trailer my boat to San Diego or Costa Mesa or some shit just to pay someone else to fix anothers fuck up. :zelfmoord:zelfmoord:zelfmoord:zelfmoord I dont know what to do. Good thing local fishing sucks rite now

This sucks. Have you paid them a personal visit and asked to speak to the manager? If that doesn’t work, I’d get Yamaha involved. They can’t have authorized dealers treating customers like this.

I have spoken directly to the owner of the shop and mechanic together. I have a good standing relationship with the shop. They are good people, and they are trying to get it fixed, But the facts are the facts. They have not fixed it. And I am getting very frustrated. As I said they have been in contact with Yamaha, but it might be time for me to contact yamaha and figure out what the next step in getting my boat back on the water is.

At this point, you need to get Yamaha involved. This was a new motor! Second, get your credit card company involved...you should not have to pay for ANYTHING at this point. Third, if they can't fix it, they bought the motor!

One thing to remember. Documentation. Receipts, work orders, pictures, emails,
correspondence and timelines. Conversations don't hold up. Documentation.
    Good luck.

Is yours a high pitch or low. Can you possibly show a picture with a specific location pointing out the bushing

I dont remember if it was high or low pitch but it was noticeable in neutral at idle. I wouldn’t say high pitch like a pulley with bad bearings but I could hear it. The noise would comes on about 5-10 seconds after I go into neautral.

I believe it’s the key #18 in the attacked diagram.

Give Yamaha 1 week and then get an attorney. Regardless of all the attempts, its not right and Yamaha needs to make right.

Talk to the shop, ask them if they greased that bushing, hopefully they are honest. Ask them if they would just pull it and grease it. If they don't, I would google it. Pulling the lower unit and do it yourself. It isn't very hard to do. There are few good videos on youtube on pulling the lower unit.
Well good luck, hope you get it.

I am more than capable of servicing the engine... If I had the boat at home I would be doing everything suggested. The mechanic says that he retraced every step twice. I did let him know about the bushings he said the he lubed them. I stopped by the shop yesterday and had a talk with him And the end result was fix it. Or let me know that it is beyond your ability and I will take it to a different shop

I've heard a number of complaints about their service shop. It sucks, I love the tackle shop.

Sounds like you need to find another shop.
