Damn, that's deep! I hoop around 75 ish in my spots. I weight mine too, it's a must at the island when the current gets ripping. At 175? Ya you need weight big time.125-175 ft.

hoops are weighted with chain. about 7-8lbs in each one on inside ziptied. keeps them from moving around with the longer shots and current.

That's a bunch of rope to mess with though. What size rope are you using and what brand of puller?most of my shots are 250' and I am comfortable sinking gear up to 200 ft deep.
The shallow stuff gets picked over quickly at the island. I've also found that when the water has super warm cycles, the moulting cycle of the deeper bugs in the colder water seems better hence better grade. My thoughts so far this season.....
