White knuckle drive down the 5, from Carlsbad, at 4:30 this morning. Fog was so thick, I had to slow way down, like 20mph at times. Cleared the Mission Bay channel about 6:30, with absolutely no fog, with 1.5 scoops of awesome sardines. Headed south and stopped on a couple empty paddies, just northwest of the 371.

Spotted another paddy and instant on the Skipjack. Dropped a Coltsniper and hooked up to the first YFT. We shut the boat down and proceeded to have a wide open bite on anything we put in the water. There were no other boats in the area when we first stopped, but had dozens around us soon after.

I caught my limit of YFT, using a popper. The tuna were all over the popper, so much fun! The tuna were not that big, but still loads of fun, using the lighter gear.

Are these like 5lb or 10lb footballs?
I'd say 10lb +/- We had a couple in the low teens. Like I said, not very big, but loads of fun with the right gear. We did not catch any tuna that were 5lbs.
