White knuckle drive down the 5, from Carlsbad, at 4:30 this morning. Fog was so thick, I had to slow way down, like 20mph at times. Cleared the Mission Bay channel about 6:30, with absolutely no fog, with 1.5 scoops of awesome sardines. Headed south and stopped on a couple empty paddies, just northwest of the 371.
Spotted another paddy and instant on the Skipjack. Dropped a Coltsniper and hooked up to the first YFT. We shut the boat down and proceeded to have a wide open bite on anything we put in the water. There were no other boats in the area when we first stopped, but had dozens around us soon after.
I caught my limit of YFT, using a popper. The tuna were all over the popper, so much fun! The tuna were not that big, but still loads of fun, using the lighter gear.
