Will be going out on a 1.5 dayer in a few weeks. Looks like bft are biting pretty good. Anyone got any info on riggings that are working best for these fish right now. Specifically looking for bait rod set ups, that is braid to floro diameter that is working best and hook size. Would like to have my rods set up prior to arriving. Thank you.

A better place to ask your questions. Several recent reports on BF there, Supreme, Pacifica and Shogun, lots of good info in the reports.

Lately it seems like you have to bring everything from 20 lbs to 100lbs set up. I'll be out next week on 2 1/2 and plan on bringing at least 6 set ups.

That’s what it’s looking like. Last year I took 5 setups only used 80lb flat fall and the 40lb bait setup. Was hoping to just have couple bait rods setup that were working rather than a spread and not be able to use them and have to re-tie. Thanks for that.

just got back from a 1.5 days trip. all 19 fish were 100 lbs+, 50 pound gear is the ticket (I mean you can defintely go heavier but my Talica 16ii handled it very easily). However, in the day time, you may have to go lighter to get a bite. I reeled in both my fish in about 10-15 mins, however for the folks using lighter gears, I saw several fought over 40 mins and lost quite a few fish towards the end of the game (not because their skills, simply because they gotta go lighter to get a bite.)

1.5 on intrepid last week produced 3 fish in the 40-50# range
1 at night on the rental rod using flatfall
2 day time fly line on my light tackle 55b/30# fluro using Daiwa saltiga 4500 reel
It was fun on the light tackle but definitely need to go more prepared for my 3 day trip on the independence in July
