Hi there. Just got back from a 1.5 day trip on the Chief . Because the bluefin has gotten a little picky at the 60 the decision was made at the captains meeting that we would head south to Colonet. With that done Captain Rick fired her up and off we went. Great ride down but less than favorable conditions when we arrived. Wind and chop made for a sloppy first 2 drifts. Captain Rick decides to kick over the hook on a good looking spot and we are off to the races. Steady stream of beautiful Colonet rockfish start coming over the rail till everyone gets limits. Great call by the Captain to drop the hook. Yellows never showed up but we did manage 3 bluefin. You need to try this new owner out. Running a great program and boy are they kid friendly.

Were there any sheepshead and whitefish at Colonet? Were you using finbait or squid strips for the rockfish?

Went on the Chief with Rick and crew in December. Rick is committed to getting everyone on the fish. Our trip was a 2.5 Rock Cod trip to Colonet that changed to a BFT trip at Clement. Everyone left with plenty of BFT and Rock Cod. No doubt James in the galley made trip even better
