Went down to the boat mid day Saturday to put some final touches on some maintenance activities and noticed how very calm it was. Pushed off Sunday (winds were forecasted to pick up some) around 5:30 and headed out towards the outside 1500, the journey out was uneventful, still better than a day full of chores around the house.

Spun the Kai Nana around and headed it back towards the pinnacle, I was in the tower Eric was down on the deck; thought I heard a clicker, looked down and saw Eric's feet and he wasn't headed towards any of the rods, (think to myself must have been wishful thinkin') must be hallucinating. About 5 seconds later the corner goes (ah ha), comes off then I see a swirl on the center and it goes and comes off. Between that morning and the last trip that's 5 pointey noised bastard strikes with no hook sets.

Just as we get to the pinnacle the corner goes and we get a small mahi. Getting near the end of the day thinking to myself (got dinner at the inlaws and must be coherent) take a quick nap. Just get my eyes closed when the port rigger goes and stays stuck. Get a really nice Hebi (thickest one I've ever seen, even the big ones are usually pretty skinny). After clearin' line find out the stbd rigger had been mutilated as well but never released. Count for the day 2 fish out of 5 strikes, gotta up the body count; certainly not complaining. Looking forward to some onolicious sashimi this evening.

That's a fat spearfish. Seems like there have been a few billfish bites lately on Oahu.

way to get after it pat, those long noses can be frustrating sometimes. sometime no matter what you do they don't stick and sometimes they always stick. Looks like some good eats you got there

Thanks Eric... outside 20 miles it was lumpier, inside was pretty flat.

Thanks Brandon, w/ stripeys and SBSF the bite to catch ratio is pretty low, or can be anyway.

Thanks Pupule, the sash was the bomb.

Thanks Jonny; would love to see a strong run of Nairagis.

Thanks Kekoa, those little bill fish can be frustrating at times.

    Thanks NoDrama.
