Yeah we spent 2500 or so bucks to fish this tourney it would be dumb to not do it all legal and get a dq for something dumb like the line we use. I have also been hearing all sorts of storys that one guy and up to three guys didnt have there licenses wich was not us because u put out all the money and to not pay 45 bucks would be dumb.As for the battle it was pretty epic at one point we were side by side with the shark gunning the boat full throttle and it was like a neck to neck race, that shark was so fast specialy considering how plump she was

That fish ROCKS! Don't listen to the boys giving you a hard time for killing it. Yes, sharks eat seals which is good, but when you catch the trophy of a lifetime, or anyone's lifetime, there is nothing wrong with bringing it home.

Great job, very cool to see anglers get fish that amazing with a rod and reel!

I can't believe some people willingly put wax in their ears and swear that sea lions aren't a *significant* part of large makos diets... complete denial to justify the unabashed killing of these apex predators. Not to say people like the angler don't have the right to kill one, and I appreciate his post, but things need to be given consideration here.
