Thought I’d throw out a report since I know a few of you are going to be out on the 4th holiday weekend.
Wind uphill about 5 mph in the morning changing to onshore 11:00 am approximately 7 mph. About 1:00 pm more like 10 mph. Going to Cat would be doable. Water was greenish inside and very clear blue a couple miles out. Temperature ranged from 62.5 -66 degrees.
I found cremation remains of my folks dog Luana (Border Collie) in my garage this week. One of the things I grabbed when I had to clear out their house when they transitioned. I wanted to put her to rest in the ocean which my folks would have appreciated.
After the ceremony, I dropped deep and managed to catch 2 small Vermillions, mostly Sand Dabs. Bolan was bored as could be.
Moved inside when the onshore wind picked up and had a steady bite of both Barred bass and a few Calicos on the drift. Probably caught about 12 in an hour. I kept one 16” Calico to go along with the RF for dinner tonight.
When I got back to the launch the truck was dead. Left my lights on. One guy tried to jump me (thank you) to no avail. My buddy who works at the landing got his truck and cables and we were good to go. Thank the Lord. Sucks having a dead truck, boat in the water, and having to manage Bolan that I couldn’t leave in the truck since the windows are electric. (So much for the charging pack I purchased for this very reason).
Rumour has it someone got into a WFO BF bite today. Hopefully they report. Do not PM me, I do not have the details.
Happy 4th of July. Good luck to all the guys venturing out on the water. Find them, so I can fish them next week!
