WORD ON THE DOCK'S IN WESTPORT BAIT NOT LOOK TO GOOD

This is pretty typical for spring. By the end of summer the sea lions tend to destroy the pens to eat the last of the Anchovy. They’ll rebuild them in a week.

Some of that would definitely be cool though. And in some cases useful. Over the years I’ve become less and less of an accessory light fan...marine or auto. As far as running in the dark, it’s a lights out situation. Only NAV lights. You must be able to see the NAV lights of other vessels...

    Yamaha vs Honda

The Yamaha f200 is lighter because it’s a 4 banger. A good engine too but they’re squeezing out the same horsepower with two less cylinders. There has to be more torque with the 6 vs the 4 as well. I don’t have specs in front of me but my experience tells me so. Plus the HD lower units on...

    Yamaha vs Honda

Honda for sure and for a 27’ boat you’re going to want twin 225’s. Honda’s are extremely reliable, long living, and are the easiest four stroke outboard to service. Outstanding engines. Outstanding HD lower units. I’ve been around the world more than 5 times, on the ocean, with Honda’s and...

This is interesting. In theory, when propped correctly, an outboard shouldn’t “experience heavy loading”. There will be some loading depending on circumstances but it should be a relatively small window of load ranges. Sounds more like they were just abused. Ran hard when cold. Idk. Or...

    Week three of GIANT Albies

We've had an amazing grade of tuna these past few weeks with an average size of almost 30lbs. Catch counts have been strong with highliner scores like 28, 15, 26, 32, and 19. Once again all 30lb fish so even on bait stops with big volumes of fish, you're limited by how long it takes to land...

Ok Chris, I've run both 3 and 4 blade props on our boats and the key differences are the 4 blade props lift the stern of the boat (the extra blades make the engine climb upward slightly in the water column) and the boat undoubtedly gets on plane faster, and at a lower speed. It's kinda nutty...

Never Crash a Bait stop when a photographers onboard

...and really the best thing a guy can do for himself is go find his own thing. If a boat is stopped and fishing bait, that school is usually fixed on him until he's done. Not often can another boat "steal" a bait stop. It usually ends up killing the action for both boats.

    Westport has CHOVIES!!!

Ok...Westport Seafoods (bait receiver in WP) now has live anchovies...fish them for whatever you please. No fresh herring (comes from Fox Island, Puget Sound daily to WP) for another week or two. We're fishing trayed frozen gerring right now for salmon.
