    New Transducer need opinions

I have 175HW and 175M which I find an ideal combination, but if I had to choose only one I would choose the 175M. The 175HW is excellent for seeing fish in the water column and I use this as primary fish finder down to about 175’ depth below which I think the coverage too wide and normally...

    Transducer.... another thread

You would be better off using 3M 4200 or Sikaflex rather than 3M 5200 in case that you need to remove replace in the future. I have used Sikaflex with no leakage issues on my two tilted-element transducers. 3M 5200 can be a real PIA to release and is best for absolutely permanent fixtures.

The HW element of TM275LHW is the same element as in the 175HW that I have. For salmon trolling and I think tuna you will like this transducer! Plus you have LOW CHIRP as well. It is to stop line creep - click, click click on the Islander. It is progressive - the more you tighten down on the drag to stop the creep, the more you have to tighten down - until eventually it bottoms out. Using a downrigger clip as shown prevents that. I like to set the drag so that on a...

First choice would be to upgrade transducer to thru-hull CHIRP. The SonarHub at $200 is very good value. Problem is the choice is Low/High or Low/Medium with 265/275 so you could have Medium or High (dependent upon your choice of frequency bands) on one unit but only Low on the other. I find Low is not very good for running. If you would consider thru-hulls I would suggest you look at a SS175M...

    new transducer

So you are 'chirping' a P66. I have heard of this. Do you find results better when chirping or with the usual fixed frequency? I wonder how long a P66 will last being chirped on a regular basis - it's great to experiment!

Ok - thanks and then there is pulse length which in my basic understanding of this area is controlled by the sounder relative to the transducer in use which determines the energy output. Maybe I am offbeam but I think it is a mistake to think that because a CHIRP sounder is quoting 250RMS or...

    new transducer

On Simrad and I think Lowrance as well, if you are using two head-units (MFD's) connected to two transducers, to view both simultaneously that is one transducer on each MFD you need to go into settings - echo - and uncheck 'network' (maybe need to check local). You can still have everything...

    new transducer

True - but you can plug two different transducers into two sounders be it two MFD's (Evo2, Gen 3 etc) or MFD and black box (SonarHub, BSM-2/3) etc and view simultaneously. Dependent on the transducers frequency range you may or may not get 'noise' even if there is no overlap in frequency which...

The problem is that with the 265LH the XID (that identifies the transducer to the sounder) is only carried in the ‘High’ batch of cables. When you plug in the high side your Gen 3 will recognise the transducer correctly and will enable High Chirp and custom individual frequencies 130-210 kHz...

    Scotty Downrigger String Derailing Issue

I think it is more likely that the nylon strip will be frayed by the braid. This is a good idea. Way back fixed-spool reels (spinning...

Only just seen this thread. Looks a very thorough job and I am very assured with my boat provisionally booked-in with Bob this summer for a re-coat. NR OS Scuppers

This is exactly what I do - remove the grate and blast through with the washdown hose. This generally works good enough. My issue is that the NR-OS standard scupper outlets and/or pipes are not big enough and do not evacuate water fast enough - the first wave sets you up and the next swamps...

How many downriggers is too many?

I have four downriggers on my 24 North River Seahawk Offshore. I cannot run all four simultaneously in all conditions but the more I use four the more proficient I become. When conditions dictate I reduce to three or two but try to run as many rods as I can. I find four downriggers preferable to...

Water intrusion to the bilge on my boat (NR Seahawk Offshore 24') has been from a number of sources. Shortly after delivery to me the bilge pump operated. No - you cannot run Low Chirp in conjunction with Medium / High / High-Wide Chirp on a dual screen without BSM2/3 with NSS Evo2. If you have two NSS Evo2's with two transducers you can operate both simultaneously - one transducer on each MFD - if you do not network them, but, you will have...

Because I mainly fish less than 200' down although sometimes in up to 1400' of water and the wider cone-angle of the SS175C-HW will give more coverage. Yes - I have seen that during water-testing as regards the F200's and their Command Link guages, but, I don't think that you can get fuel flow information when the kicker only is in operation. And, the trouble is with running the kicker from the (only) main tank is that you cannot properly...

Fortunately, it was spotted that the exit hole to my drain required reaming for the plug to fit, which it now does so I can keep the ocean out, but that still leaves 10' or so of (drain) pipe for marine-life to grow. For now I shall plug from the inside and then at least I can open it up to...
