I stopped going to Punta Chivato some years ago because they wiped out all the Dorado there fishing squid and sardines until they were gone. In San Felipe last week, the fisherman grouped together and in broad daylight killed around 1000 Totoaba and nothing was done to stop them...

Your trip is definitely going to have some wind, but they deal with it all the time down there. If you lose a day of fishing while at anchor, just enjoy yourselves, relax, read a book, have a cocktail. The scenery and just being in the Sea of Cortez is worth the trip...

The road to San Felipe wasn't damaged, but there are some wash outs and some bridges damaged before and after Puertocitos. The same low spots that always flood in San Felipe are shown in the pictures from town. It does look like it's going to blow again this weekend however...

Slim Jims and Jerky are tasty and expensive, use the bait blocks in a bait station. Watch for activity and when you see the poop turn green like the color of the bait you're on track. Also, don't clean the area when you find a lot of droppings, that marks an area where they are congregating...

On my last Tony Reyes trip they called all the pangas in one day, put us aboard and the pangas hauled ass to Gonzaga. We had a 40mph bumpy ride uphill and pulled in a few hours later and anchored up. By the end of the day we were fishing again. It was pretty bumpy the rest of the trip though...

I would weld a sleeve to the hole where the bolt rides and maybe put a larger one in while I was at it. All that weight is being applied to the bolt by the edges of the tubing, wearing through the galvanizing and over time cutting the bolt. Poor design...

If you're going to Gonzaga no problem, but as Dogman said the unfinished dirt section past Gonzaga to the main road will shake the shit out of a trailer. Mexicali will be tight with a 27' boat and there isn't much parking but it's doable. Just make sure to have trailer, boat and car registration...
